GT5 "My Lounge" Revealed, GT6 To Take Five Years

We know Gran Turismo 5 will boast a robust online multiplayer mode, but we know very little about how it will be presented.

Well, it seems the latest issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine will have plenty of information concerning this topic. Part of that article is already online and as you can see, it's all about the GT5 "My Lounge" feature. You'll conduct your online racing business from this central hub of sorts, and there will be plenty of features available, too.

"My Lounge is GT5's hub from which you'll access all of GT5's new online features. Hit the Community tab and you'll pull up a bulletin board filled with your latest stats and your recent mail from friends and other players.

You can browse through your friends' bulletin boards and check their progress on and offline, and sent out mail and challenges. My Lounge supports voice chat for up to 32 players and lets you host 16-player online races or spectate on races in progress, as well as watch the GT-TV VOD service and race replays."

By the way, SystemLink has another little quote from that article, which says that the sixth GT installment will another five years to make. ...well, guess that means it's a PlayStation 4 title, right? Anyway, we've waited long enough for GT5 but provided both the single-player and multiplayer delivers on every possible level (and they'll have to, after the delay), we should be plenty satisfied when it arrives on November 2.

what issue is that ? i have the leasts issue of OPM or aka PTOM it's the august issue that has the least info on Little Big Planet 2 and a massive reveal of call of duty black ops wtf?

5 isnt even out and were talkin 6. ugh. honestly can we just not talk anymore about 6 til 5 at least hits the store shelves. it will probably take us like 5 years to play all the stuff in gt5 anyway.

Do you think gamers will be holding a DualShock 4 in GT6?

I'm hoping that the DS4 comes with electrodes that attach to the body to give you that "Holy s$@t! That was so awesome that I wet myself!" effect. Having a bedpan around will come in handy because adult diapers just aren't absorbent enough.

Sounds about right to me, I can't wait to play some gt5 and it sounds like multiplayer will be awesome. I am not a big MP kinda guy but with something like this, real players will always be better than A.I.

I think the architecture of the PS4 wont be too different to that in the PS3, just more powerful, so it should only really require a few tweaks here and there to optimize it for the new hardware (hopefuly).

It's fine, GT5 is like 2 GT games in one (reason it has taken this long).

It's the kind of game that will still be fresh and kicking 2, 3, and even 4 years after release.

With everything calculated, GT6 will probably come out on ps4.

Well, hello jokeswagon. Honestly, I expect GT6 within three years. Sony will push them hard to release a kingpin game for the final tolling of the PS3 before or shortly after the PS4 hits the market, much like God Of War 2. Then GT7 will take five years from that :P.

32 player voice chat in the lounge when only 16 can play online... That seems odd. But would be kind of cool if you can pick and choose whoever you like to join. I think this might be the game that persuades me to get a broadband connection again... Or not.

If GT6 goes to the PS4, it'll be a lauch title for that console, so I think it's best for polyphony to release it on the PS3, just like God of War 2 could have been a PS3 lauch title, but instead it went to the PS2

It always has, I think it's because the comments section is always open to change or added features.

It's funny, the setup here is perfect and simple and yet I haven't seen any big sites have a way to reply directly to someone so every has to say @#5 and so on and so forth to talk to each other.

yeah the same sites that gave crackdown 2 a 9/10 and you read the review and reads something like, "Crackdown 2 is full of glitches, crappy graphics, terrible gameplay, no story, terrible multiplayer, and is uglier and worse than the first crackdown, but it's a lot of fun! 9/10 for sure."

Getting quite excited about the online mode for GT5, its sounding really good so far.

I got excited about GT5P online racing too, but that was a complete let down, couldn't even race my friends. I'm sure GT5 wont let me down.

Man if this game disappoints...I'm not going to take these guys serious anymore. Such a long wait, the quality and gameplay better be top notch. I'm no game developer, but still, these guys need to get on their sh*t and just release this bad boy already. People want, they need it to be a success, enough hype...jsut release the damn thing already...I want it already.

It's not all PD' fault. Some blame can fall on Sony too. PD has said before they could release it at anytime. They just keep adding features which is fine by me, cus I dont need 5 racing sims for my PS3, just gimme one fully loaded, which GT5 is shaping up to be.

Racing sims I can deal with once every generation. So if GT6 has to wait til the PS4 fine by me. By the looks of it, GT5 is more than your average racer, and even steps above an GT installment before it. Which if you've played, the competition is no comparison simple as that.

Makes you wonder how they fit it all on just one tiny little Blu-Ray ;) haha OH right Blu-Ray is bigger than DVD sorry. I actually don't know if I will buy this or not, now it's not because I don't like the game series or anything but lets be honest here, THERE IS TOO MUCH STUFF!!! I feel so overwhelmed with all this has to offer. I have the deep feeling I will never finish this, then GT6 will come out and I will have already shot myself because the French guy with a weird accent keeps cutting me off on multiplayer.

Nothing new about My Lounge, but it looks like the topic is more hot about the next GT installment taking 5 years. I don't know about that one.

Unless it's for the PS4, they don't have to spend any time building codes from scratch. All there is to do really, is model more cars, tracks, and maybe some new modes. Not a quote I certainly would take seriously.

its really weird we dont really have much info on this game, considering its been in development for over 5 years and its due out in less than 5 months!

one thing i really hope they have is they have the top gear test track in there, so i hope they add all the stigs times for each of the cars so i can see how close to them i can get!
or even race with the stig, now that would be so COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

man, everyday that goes by and the more info anounced makes me more and more excited, I just can't wait for GT5.
I herd the team is working on inhansing grapghics and speeding up load times up untell the release. November 2nd can't come any sooner.
5 years? the Ps3 can last 5 more years(for me). I don't even have an HD tv yet and with Move and 3D coming, I think so. So I guese I'm picking up my new PS4 aloung with GT6.
