PSXE Poll Update: Move Takes Priority Over 3D...For Now
Sony plans to get rolling on two new technologies this year: PlayStation Move and 3D gaming. But which is likely to see more early adopters?
Well, unsurprisingly, it seems that most PSXE readers will be more willing to get Move before they dive into 3D gaming. Obviously, there's a much bigger price hurdle for the latter; even if you need the Eye and plan to drop $100 on Move, it's a far cry from a new 3D-enabled HDTV with 3D glasses. Furthermore, there will be more Move products immediately available out of the gate; 3D will certainly require more time to catch on, and it'll help when more and more HDTVs start to feature 3D technology. We still say things like Killzone 3 and Gran Turismo 5 could be downright amazing in 3D but for now, we have to emphasize the "could" part...until we really embrace the concept and see it for ourselves, we'll just have to hope. Move, on the other hand, has been seen and sampled by many and thus far, it's gaining quite the solid reputation. We'll also be interested in seeing how Move advances over the years; in 2012, we could have some very cool motion-oriented products on shelves. The possibilities are almost limitless...
This week, with the summer drought staring us square in the face, we want to know how you'll be spending your catch-up time. What amazing gem of the first half of 2010 did you miss, but now fully intend to play? God of War III? Bioshock 2? Red Dead Redemption? Yeah, you can only pick one.

I completed XIII (took me only 60 hours, from the 26th-52nd hour, was just pure grinding until my "feeling" settled in and told me to stop), Red Dead Redemption (somewhere between 25-35 hours, and that's cuz I did lots of extra stuff) and Heavy Rain XD (only once, until I decided to lend it to a friend, as I really wanted more friends to try out and play this game; he's really into it!!).
After that, I did another playthrough of Mass Effect 2 (this time, as a female lol; I made different choices, and no, they weren't on purpose either) and am currently (and almost done!) playing a 2nd playthrough of Dragon Age: Origins, as a female elf born in the Aliennage of Denerim (1st playthrough was human noble).
So, currently, RDR, DA:O, and a teeny dose of COD:WaW and MW2 here and there are what's occupying me ^.^

I do think Move is a solid product that has a decent future. I actually think that the Microsoft machine will manage to sell a good number of Kinect units. But, much like the Wii has faded because so many are sitting in a closet somewhere, I think that a *lot* of the Kinect units sold will end up gathering dust in a forgotten corner while Move controllers get used frequently enough to require replacement sue to wear and tear.

Maybe not so much playing the games, but just to use your hand to navigate the menu system, and your voice to launch a movie is very cool... M$ may have something there...
I think once Kinect is connected and being used, even if people simply use it to control the front end of their xBots, why not... if it works and it is convenient... beats having to fumble with a controller in the dark...

The point being, that Microsoft does not have a proprietary lock on voice command or gesture control, both technologies have existed since long before Kinect (or PSEye/Eyetoy). So if Sony wants to, or their gamers tell them to, they can implement it at a stroke with Move. I just think that having used voice command,. it's unnecessary.

But my wallet will leave me if I even mention the words 3D in front of it right now
As for picking a game in the new poll, I don't even have any of those new 2010 games listed yet.
Plus I've already got a huge backlog of 57 other PS3 games, 34 PSP games, & 70 360 games to still get through first(not to mention over 500 PS1 games and ton of games from all my older console collections too).
As for my own gaming update,
I was able to finish KZ2, Haze, and Battlefield:Bad Company in the last few weeks.
And I just started on inFamous a couple night's ago.
And once that's done, then I'll probably either start on Red Faction:Guerrilla, start on Time/Shift, or finish completing Prototype

I traded in RDR and FFXIII for Demon Souls and it's the best decision I ever made.
Then I'm going to replay Heavy Rain to take a breather when I can't face a DS whipping.
There have been loads of game sales here recently so I managed to pick up the following really cheap:
The Darkness - $5
Dead Space - $7
Ghostbusters - $10
Oblivion GOTY - $10
Siren Blood Curse - $10
Also got Valkyria Chronicles to get back into.
So, too many games and too little time!

As for right now, still trying to get through Valkyria Chronicles, and I have to give Demon's Souls back tomorrow, so I hope to at least get to the first checkpoint this arvy. Not liking my chances though, I've gone through it about twenty times and keep getting killed by this guy with a lance. I hate one-hit kills.
Peace.

However, since most (uh 99%) of the people in North America can't tell the difference between 3D in Alice and Wonderland and Avatar, it doesn't make a difference to them, nor the film studios (the 1% is us, on the net, spreading the true info about 3D movies!). I know I'm exaggerating, but you see my point I'm trying to make =)
In Canada, theatres are a lot more organized with showcasing movies (well, at least in Ontario lol); they can show up a big hit 3 months after release (some theatres, some don't).
So right now, Shrek Forever is still in 2D, almost 2 months after its release =D, with a good amount of showtimes ^.^

it would not be too bad if HD TVs went affordable a few years ago, but they did not they were extremely expensive up to like a year ago.
i just upgraded the TV in my room not even 2 years ago, and the one downstairs not even 6 months ago.
most people replaced their old SD TVs within the last year because thats when the prices finally became reasonable, not many people still have SD TVs.
not to mention allot of people hate the idea of wearing glasses, man and i thought i was fussy!
i really could not care less!
if wearing glasses is going to allow me to play games, have bullets fly straight past my head, shrapnel flying towards me ect ect than ill gladly wear the glasses.

now, granted some may have a 40 inch in the living room, but to be honest i dont know anyone who has a 40 inch in the living room.
everyone i know has smallest a 50 inch and largest a 60 inch TV for the living room, 40 is just too small especially in a big room where you would sit further back.
bed rooms you would sit much, much closer to the TV, i only sit 2M away from my 32 inch.
nor do i know anyone who has anything larger than a 40 inch in the bed room.

My backlog consists of Condemned 2 Bloodshot, Timeshift, Star Wars the Force Unleashed, BioShock, Chronicles of Riddick Assault on Dark Athena (already finished Escape from Butcher Bay), Tomb Raider Underworld, and the second half of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. I've been thinking of starting on Timeshift; don't know why, it just sort of appeals to me I guess.

In regards to 3d and move, I've preordered move, can't wait to beat up my cousin on that boxing game, and 3d is a wait and see. Definetly not worth jumping into something at the start of it's life cycle, except for the ps3.!

I probably will feel disgusted the entire time I play it, but I have to at least try. However that is why I'm not will to pay much money for it. I'd borrow it if I knew anyone who owned it, but no one I know wants it either.

As for July, I'll get Starcraft 2 as soon as it releases. I've been really waiting for it, mostly because I started gaming on the PC, and Starcraft was one of the first games I played.
