"Secret" Vanquish Gameplay Exudes Maximum Style
So the Insonmniac guys just loved Vanquish at E3; they called it "Gears of War on crack."
We did get some gameplay via floor camera - which you can see in the article linked above - but although shorter, this new "secret movie" that recently popped up on YouTube is even more impressive. Because the player isn't fighting a boss and there are multiple enemies and multiple vantage points, we can better understand Insomniac's comments now. ...this is pretty crazy. You've got the fast sliding, the slow-mo effects, and what we're hoping will be a rock-solid frame rate to go along with the insane action.
We get the sneaking suspicion that the sliding mechanic could potentially pose problems in certain situations, either with the camera or collision detection concerning cover points and/or allies, but maybe we don't have to worry. The game is looking better and better and above all else, we really want a demo. Like, soon.

"I’m sure you have all heard by now that a new Robocop movie is in the works to be released in 2010. There were fears all over the internet that the film would be aiming for a PG-13 rating, which by Robocop standards, would be one large turd of a movie. We have some good news. The new Darren Aronofsky directed Robocop will most likely be rated R. Robocop was not meant to be rated PG-13, considering the original Robocop was so gory and fantastic that it recieved an X rating it’s first time through the MPAA.
It was also reported that the film would be sequel to the others, however this has been proven false. Robocop will be a reboot, much like "Batman Begins". In addition to this fact, it was also confirmed that the film will not be in 3-D, a gimmick that supposedly the people involved with the film were considering. Movies don’t really gain much from being 3-D and I’m glad that they did not pursue this route.
So there you have it, a whole new generation will be introduced to the joys and wonder that is "Robocop"."
If you are wondering...Darren Aronofsky directed Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain, and The Wrester, among other lesser known films.

When are we going to see it running on the PS3?
So far all we hear is how great they think the PS3 is and that it is the lead platform but, they only show videos of the R.I.P.360 version... Something smells fishy here.
Please show me a video of it running on the Black Beauty and the Beast without any of the issues that plagued Bayonetta and you might get my pre-order.

I know those aren't unique per se but I haven't seen those elements used in abundance in a twitchy run and gunner.
Probably will pass on this as I am more interested in Deus Ex.

Anyhow, what looked wrong to me was the seeimgly endeless forward slide to cover. Wonder how they'll explain *that* move to make it make any sense at all...

Did ya know there's also going to be a new Deus Ex book coming out that will tie into the upcoming game???
Book: Deus Ex: The Icarus Effect.
Del Rey announced recently that they will publish a novel based upon the Deus Ex game series. Called Deus Ex: The Icarus Effect.
The book will focus on Secret Service agent Anna Kelso and special-ops soldier Ben Saxon.
“We’re really pleased to be able to announce this new Deus Ex novel with Del Rey books,” said Andre Vu, Marketing Game Manager, Deus Ex. “The novel is set in the Deus Ex universe and there will be characters and story elements in it, that will overlap with our next videogame Deus Ex: Human Revolution, hope fans will be very excited about.”
Deus Ex: The Icarus Effect and Deus Ex: Human Revolution will both release in 2011.

That looks cool but the MUSIC! Wow I don't know if I could stomach that for an entire game. It looks less like strategy and more like a twitch frenzy.
But that's only after seeing a minute of it.
(something tells me that they're trying to be edgy and cool in the eyes of westerners by adding the over-the-top action and fast-paced music)

Ok, so the buttsliding reminds me of a recent game called Wet. Wet had this very same mechanic and you know what, it was terrible. You got caught on stuff as you slid and would stay stuck in the sliding position while you were being shot, not good.
The environments are all the same bland, no color, washed out silver/grey scheme. They did add a third color to this video though, did you see the minute amounts of red? Wow . . .
I'm sorry I still feel the same way, twitchfest, bland, poor mechanic, waste of money. Thumb me down now, but don't say I didn't warn you when every level looks exactly the same way, you're screaming at your tv because your butt slide got you stuck on a corner while the boss smashed your head in, and you finally realize the super fast action is only there to keep you from realizing the graphics are average at best.
