Harmonix, MTV To Rock Store Shelves On October 26
Well, it's on again. The annual battle between Guitar Hero and Rock Band 3 is set for the fall.
While Neversoft and Activision's Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is set for September 21, fans of the genre will have to wait more than a month for Harmonix and MTV's Rock Band 3. The latter will launch on October 26 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and DS and of course, there's your standard assortment of retailer-specific pre-order incentives. If you drop your deposit at Wal-Mart, you'll get a $10 E-gift card; if you put your money down at Amazon.com, you'll receive an exclusive in-game guitar. Lastly, if you'd rather stop by your local GameStop and pre-order the latest Harmonix effort, you'll be treated to three free downloadable songs upon the game's release: "My Own Summer," by The Deftones, "Blue Monday," by New Order, and "Burning Down the House," by Talking Heads. The other cool part about this announcement is that Rock Band 3 will ship simultaneously to all major regions; North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and others (Japan really doesn't count as a "major territory" when talking about this genre).
Also, remember that Rock Band 3 will actually feature the piano as a playable instrument, and we'll also get an all-new Pro Mode, where you should literally be able to play along with your faux-instruments. So, if you're a fan of the genre, which will you be springing for later this year? The new Guitar Hero or Rock Band?

though, this time can we make expert mode a little harder?
expert mode in RB2 is like hard mode on GH world tour!
o, and a little more proper music none of this RMB and pop BS!!!!!!!!
i thought the names were rock band and guitar hero, not sissy band and poetry hero.

GH Warriors of Rock I'll get when it comes under 40 bucks (Aussie). Great setlist so far, and a story mode just might make it interesting and more playable than GH5. Got bored of that one pretty quick, and hardly any of the good songs from the imports of previous GH's went onto GH5!!!!!
Rock Band is the big time winner in my eyes. Keyboard, 3 part harmony vocals, bass, guitar and drums. 7 players. Now THAT'S an achievement for music games.
And all music from RB1, RB2, Green Day RB, Lego RB and the RB Music Store is forwards compatible with RB3!!!!! ALL MUSIC!!!!! Harmonix appreciates people who buy their music, unlike that other company who try to screw you over by making you pay more for less music or content.
I'm looking forward to learning to play guitar for real with this thing. Pro mode finally bridges that gap between gamer and musician.
Throw in the party mode from GH5 (the ONLY good thing about GH5), and we got the best music game on the market.
I know a lot of people don't like this game, but I have a huge passion for music, owning big libraries of music and playing music, even if it is in game form. I just love it. Never stopped loving it even after the terribleness of GH5. But I just stick to Rock Band now. Can't get enough.
I did avoid GH Van Halen tho. Haven't got Lego RB and completely avoided Band Hero. LAAAAME!!!! Might get Green Day RB, looks fun, but better off as DLC for the music and character models of the band members.
Hopefully when the PS4 comes out, there'll just be Rock Band, one game disc and everything else, songs, modes, characters, real life rockstars and venues all coming in as DLC, with all RB music store purchases forwards compatible with the PS4 version.
That would be my dream Rock Band game. Everything all on 1 game. Stupid GH disc swapping, can't get all songs onto one game... grrrr....

I'm lucky enough to have had a sis whose lack of control for GH/RB meant I got to play pretty much all of them without buying a few sets of the tiny plastic toys. I had a used drumset but its shoddiness gave in a month or 2 later.
The new Rb guitar looks somewhat sweet but again it all comes down to if they have songs worth playing which they both average about 1/20 on a good day.
