Sucker Punch: We Have To Compete With The Best
We know Sucker Punch used Uncharted 2: Among Thieves as a big inspiration and influence for their hotly anticipated sequel, inFamous 2. They also had help from developer Naughty Dog.
But they're not about to just take a few ideas and run with it; they don't want to put their new action title on store shelves until it's just as good as Uncharted 2. If you check out the latest Game Informer, you'll see that Sucker Punch development director Chris Zimmerman recognizes the team's chosen project as being in an immensely competitive category. And although we don't quite place God of War in the same category as inFamous, we understand what he's saying. Said Zimmerman:
"The space we're playing in - the third-person action genre - is the Game of the Year space. You look around and it's Uncharted 2, it's Assassin's Creed, it's God of War. It's all these great games, and you have to be able to compete on all axes with them. On the axes of character and story and stuff, we're much better set up this time so we can take a big, hard swing at it."
Well, the good news is that the original inFamous was a borderline Game of the Year contender even with games like Uncharted 2 and Assassin's Creed II launching in 2009. Sure, Naughty Dog's masterpiece was head-and-shoulders above them all, but even so, Sucker Punch did a darn fine job. And the sequel looks downright awesome in every sense of that overused descriptive term.

The story alone can take you over 20 hours to complete and altho compared to newer games it's graphics aren't the best, I love the graphical style they used and the game is just so much fun.

inFamous is really a classic from this generation. Despite not having multiplayer, I have kept returning to it, having bought it twice, platinuming it, and playing though it 6 times. It's easily at least my 2nd favorite franchise.

I see myself as a "glitch-free" gamer... I really want to know that what I am purchasing is the best that game can be. For example, I did not purchase ACI or ACII, knowing full well that if a 3rd installment were to come out, it would be the best one... and will duly purchase it.
I bought Dirt 1, but it was quite glitchy; didn't like the shadow-mapping routines used, and it wasn't as polished as it could have been. I sold it and I didn't purchase the Dirt 2 either concluding that a 3rd will be released, and indeed it will be. I am likely to purchase the Dirt 3 with new updated Ego Engine v3.0.
Whilst Infamous 1 was a great effort, again a concluded a second one would appear in the series, and it is. And the second one just ups the quality by an order of 10 at least. Infamous 2 will sit proudly in my collection, so will titles like UC2, GoWIII and GT5. These are the cream of the crop. Heavy Rain will be bought at some stage too.
I enjoy my gaming like a fine wine... purchasing my games slowly over time. I won't be taken up by the hype anymore as I did in the first year of the PS3's life. I go for technical achievement and quality of the game play mechanic. I have enjoyed superb titles on PSN like Flower, Trine, WarHawk and SuperStar Dust HD.
Like sipping a fine wine, I take my time... and I am a slow gamer, in fact I am so slow I have never achieved a Platinum award yet, I have 3 gold though! Yes, I am that slow... maybe even a little incompetent at playing them, but that is me...
At the moment I am enjoying Red Dead Redemption... it is a great Californian wine, a little sweet and sour at the same time, with a sharp edge on the throat after swallowing...
Another point worth considering... I am always away for work. You may notice the odd times I put my location at the end of my comments... I travel extensively, and until I buy a PSP, I can't take my gaming with me... (I never bought a PSP in anticipation of PSP2, but at e3 there was no announcement!)
That is that... let us see how these AAA titles turn out... my favourite is the Killzone franchise, so of course, Killzone 3 will be a day one purchase, so will GT5 and UC3... without question...

If you are waiting for the later games so it will have less glitches, it may be pointless, as there is no sure bet that a sequel will have less bugs than its previous games. For example: Modern Warfare 2

Don't own Infamous1 but am strongly inclined to purchase Infamous2. Sure, it's a little sad to see SP swapping a bad-ass (anti)hero for a "smoother" main-stream-appealing lad. But ultimately Cole "Hawk" will gain all players' approval after wreaking some havoc in-game ^^.
This is just a hypothesis of course :P

Kind of brilliant of SP to include a radar to find the shards but then have one so high up that it doesn't show up on the map. How devious and at the same time, how rewarding for those of us who found them all.

Yeah, I found that one pretty much by accident. I was just climbing the highest points I could find to see how big of thunder drop I could do. The hardest one to find I think was the one out on the broken docks on the north east of the 3rd island, I think it was. I must of scanned the parameters 2 times over on each island before I found that one...not a highlight of the my experience, but I had to get my first platinum.

It is unanimous. Crackdown did shoot itself in the foot. After selling their souls to M$, the devs pretty much lost their creative energy. Same city. Some new weapons. Zombies. No more transformable vehicles. I've seen better DLC packs then this sorry excuse of a disc release.

And then Reach will be advertised till everyone on earth is seeing Reach commercial.
Seems like Reach is going to be the "biggest" game of 2010......................but not the best.

I'm not sure why inFamous gets a bad graphics rap, it's still better than any multiplat, but this new footage makes it look at least twice as good. I think the tuning fork could be sweet weapon if they get creative with it and I can't wait to mix up my ice and electricity powers for some major damage. MOST anticipated for sure.
Take notes Ninja Theory, inFamous 1 hasn't even hit 2 million sold BUT if you take a good game and make it a franchise people will buy the sequels more than the original. People like something worth having a number after it.

I make it a point to finish every game I buy, but infamous was a struggle after awhile. As soon as I beat it (I did the good-cole side), I immediately traded it in. Not sayin I didn't like it, it just didn't live up to all that it could have been. I didn't think anyone could disappoint with as great a premise as the one in infamous. But I was...
That said, after reading all that's included in infamous 2, this looks like the game I've been pining to play since before the 1st one was released. Here to hoping it will succeed!
If not F*#@ sucker punch.

I guess what I'm tryna say is that even tho it was a super hero/action-adventure game, I barely felt like I was THAT powerful. I understand the point of the game was that you were bestowed the powers randomly, and had to learn to harness them, but even after unlocking and upgrading everything, it still UNDERWHELMED me.
Maybe its just because the city wasn't very believeable in my opinion. I mean there was very little distinction between the inhabitants and vehicles...and even the enemy's weren't very expired (apart from looking a bit different in every area you unlock)
Now look at the many different move types and enemy selections in Hulk: Ultimate Destruction (PS2). If infamous would have had that type of pure awesomeness and elitest feel to it, then to me I would have been more satisfied. Plus the side-missions in infamous got repetitive after awhile. (Help escort the gang members to jail...defuse bombs under the train track etc.)

I think Infamous 2 will be greatly appreciated by the gamers out there, and they will be justly rewarded for their efforts...
