Atlus Continuing Demon's Souls Online Support Through March
Demon's Souls is one of those games that can take a lot of time. But Atlas is well aware of that fact.
Atlus has announced that they will continue their online support of Demon's Souls, the role-playing phenomenon that has captured the hearts of RPG fanatics and critics alike. This support will continue through March 2011 and to celebrate, they've switched the online world over to Pure Tendency, which makes the game a bit easier for newcomers. Said Aram Jabbari, PR and Sales Manager for Atlus:
"We are proud to maintain our commitment to the Demon’s Souls online community by extending our support for the game’s servers, allowing current and new players to continue to enjoy the game’s vast online feature set. One of the highest-rated, most talked about games of all time, Demon’s Souls is defined by its groundbreaking online functionality. No other game better marries suspenseful, claustrophobic solitude with unprecedented cooperative and competitive multiplayer connectivity. Each game world, each individual’s adventure, can be bridged with those of others’, making for one of the most startlingly grand yet deeply intimate RPG experiences ever created."
And by the way, if you haven't signed on yet for the experience, you can grab Demon's Souls for the very agreeable price of $29.99. For what many call the greatest RPG of the generation, that's one hell of a steal...just be ready to handle one of the most challenging games available! If you can push through and emerge victorious, you'll receive quite the feeling of fulfillment and pride.

My greatest fear is that actual online multi-player will become such a money making possibility for these companies that they may end up actually charging to components entirely for the same game.
You have to spend to buy the game and play the single player, and then you must purchase the multi-player component and probably subscribe to continue enjoying it!!!
I really fear we will have a split gaming community as the suits at the top devise more creative ways of extracting cash from our pockets...
I will resist it with all my will power... even stop being a gamer if charges and costs become ridiculous...

The game has this reputation of being hard, usually an attractive element for me.
I remember when I rented it, the guy at Blockbuster was warning, nearly insisting, that the game was real hard and not worth playing because of it, as if it was a subtle cue to take it back to the shelf and indulge in more twitch'n instead. I rented it anyway and got passed a big blob of goo with spears (only after I had died 50 thousand times to a tough glowing eyed dude on some castle walkway.... before I realized "I don't have to kill him, yet")

It's pretty simple, you also have to upgrade your weapons, you can't use the same weapon through the entire game. (it's possible but it'll take alooong time)

Some monsters are strong against magic, some against melee, and yes some monsters in the first level can be impossible to beat early on, but the way the levels are designed is so that you can return to any level at any time and still find a challenge.
Like the knight that charges you and kills you in one hit at the beginning, you don't have to fight him, you can go back later and rip him a new one instead of the other way around.

I found it to be a lot about timing, like the games of old, if you don't hit your button at the correct millisecond your blow will be too early or too late.
I'm not ripping on it, it's a quality game, and I'm sure when the fans wake up tomorrow they will blast this thread and me but I'm just stating how I saw it, and I didn't get far, so do with that what you will.

After MANY attempts, I ripped him a new one just yesterday. Only to find that the door at the end was locked! Son of a.....

As for the knight being slow and what not, yeah thats because your loaded with heavy items. It works very simply, the more weight you carry the slower you move. If you're carrying more than half the max weight you can carry you slow down quite a bit, so since the knight starts out with very heavy armor he is slow. If you're not wearing armor you're quick on your feet.
It doesn't actually matter what starting class you pick as they can all be leveled in the same way. Any class you pick if they get too much weight they slow down.

Sad that the servers will ever have to be taken down, especially since there will be no Demon's Souls 2.

Please explain though why Demon Souls' online support will be extended only until March 2011? Is it fact that if I bought the game in the fall this year, but next year, my online experience is no more...
How can that be?

Any future DS would squarely be up to Sony as they own the rights to the IP, not From Software. Other than that if any future sequels are made I highly doubt it would be made my FS other becoming a internal project....
