FIFA 11 Considers The "Personality" Of Its Players
Who cares about graphics? We know FIFA 11 will look great but in this day and age, sports video games have to be taken to the next level.
And so, enter "Personality+" for the latest entry in the critically acclaimed soccer franchise. EA Sports will not only produce the most realistic-looking players, they will also capture the personalities and attitudes of your favorite athletes. According to Kotaku, the developer says the new feature "draws from a database of 36 attributes and 57 traits, compiled by 1,700 scouts around the world." That, my friends, is the definition of "hardcore." See, it's not about what they look like but how they play:
"Real Madrid's Kaka will deliver crisp, creative passes, Barcelona's Andres Iniesta will utilize tighter turns and close control to dribble through defenses, Manchester United's Wayne Rooney will hold off defenders and strike shots from distance with pace, and top-flight defenders like Giorgio Chiellini of Juventus will anticipate, predict and react to offensive players to win back possession.
Goalkeepers have also been injected with Personality+. The real-life personality of the keeper, whether acrobatic or traditional, will dictate his style in game. Dive attributes will determine keepers with ability to reach for further shots while reflex attributes determine reaction times, enabling a keeper like Petr Cech of Chelsea FC to showcase world-class skills."
If you're a fan of the sport, this just has to get you excited. We also expect to see such a feature in other EA Sports products; provided it's implemented correctly, it's just another level of authenticity that sports aficionados are bound to appreciate.

graphics, and physics its as simple as that!
i mean obviously the gameplay and controls are more important, but its soccer how can you possibly screw those up!?
i really enjoyed fifa 2010, and fifa world cup 2010.
just one thing they need to change is the shot power.
i dont get it, i make a sprint get in the goal box tap circle and my character slogs the ball so hard its going to give the moon a Irish kiss!
than i do the exact same thing as before, but instead of feather touching circle, this time i hold it down and now he fires it allong the ground.
WTF?
1% power = Irish kiss!
100% power = along the ground.
go figure!!!!!!!!
what they should do is bring back the power bar that way we can visually see how much power were putting into the shot.
either that, or make shoot in the air and shoot along the ground 2 different buttons!
nothing pisses me off more than making the perfect break, picture perfect than spoiling it by shooting at the moon!

I mean, we have AI so good now it can be tailored to specific in-game players. Isn't catering to the actual buyer the next step? Oh, wait, shouldn't that already be...?
