FIFA 11 Considers The "Personality" Of Its Players

Who cares about graphics? We know FIFA 11 will look great but in this day and age, sports video games have to be taken to the next level.

And so, enter "Personality+" for the latest entry in the critically acclaimed soccer franchise. EA Sports will not only produce the most realistic-looking players, they will also capture the personalities and attitudes of your favorite athletes. According to Kotaku, the developer says the new feature "draws from a database of 36 attributes and 57 traits, compiled by 1,700 scouts around the world." That, my friends, is the definition of "hardcore." See, it's not about what they look like but how they play:

"Real Madrid's Kaka will deliver crisp, creative passes, Barcelona's Andres Iniesta will utilize tighter turns and close control to dribble through defenses, Manchester United's Wayne Rooney will hold off defenders and strike shots from distance with pace, and top-flight defenders like Giorgio Chiellini of Juventus will anticipate, predict and react to offensive players to win back possession.

Goalkeepers have also been injected with Personality+. The real-life personality of the keeper, whether acrobatic or traditional, will dictate his style in game. Dive attributes will determine keepers with ability to reach for further shots while reflex attributes determine reaction times, enabling a keeper like Petr Cech of Chelsea FC to showcase world-class skills."

If you're a fan of the sport, this just has to get you excited. We also expect to see such a feature in other EA Sports products; provided it's implemented correctly, it's just another level of authenticity that sports aficionados are bound to appreciate.

If so, then Maradona should have superpowers in this game.

PS. I still play my FIFA 09 from time to time

You guys came off as soccer newbies, referencing the most obvious things.

In that case, Messi should have cheater traits as well, since he has two hand goals in one season with Barca.

Nice addition, I hope they implement it right so we can actually feel a difference.

For me PES is the king in soccer games, although less polished but better gameplay.

A soccer disliker. It's boring to me, and they don't even follow rules.

in a sport game only 2 things matter!
graphics, and physics its as simple as that!
i mean obviously the gameplay and controls are more important, but its soccer how can you possibly screw those up!?

i really enjoyed fifa 2010, and fifa world cup 2010.
just one thing they need to change is the shot power.
i dont get it, i make a sprint get in the goal box tap circle and my character slogs the ball so hard its going to give the moon a Irish kiss!
than i do the exact same thing as before, but instead of feather touching circle, this time i hold it down and now he fires it allong the ground.
WTF?
1% power = Irish kiss!
100% power = along the ground.
go figure!!!!!!!!

what they should do is bring back the power bar that way we can visually see how much power were putting into the shot.
either that, or make shoot in the air and shoot along the ground 2 different buttons!
nothing pisses me off more than making the perfect break, picture perfect than spoiling it by shooting at the moon!

EA does their best for FIFA but Konami isn't doing the same for PES.

Used to love PES more than FIFA but now all that has changed.

My my, whatever next, games the recognize the personality and preferences of the game player that purchases the game?

I mean, we have AI so good now it can be tailored to specific in-game players. Isn't catering to the actual buyer the next step? Oh, wait, shouldn't that already be...?

;)

Do this with NHL 11. Crosby can whine, Kane can suck that mouthguard like a pacifier, and Datsyuk can do some amazing dangles ;)
