Winning Post Goes Next-Gen On PS3
Horse racing is ever on the rise (Rest in Peace, Barbaro), and now, Sony is bringing the fast-paced event to their next-gen console in the form of Winning Post 7 Maximum 2007. Developed by Koei, it's an update to Winning Post 7, and will be available for both the PS2 and PS3 in Japan on March 29.
Maximum 2007 will boast a whole slew of new stats and game modes, including the 2007 JRA racing program, the Summer Sprint and Summer 2000 Series, and international racing like the Asia Mile Challenge and the Global Sprint Challenge. We'll also get a new race course and - as rumored - a few new gameplay enhancements and upgrades, although we're not exactly sure what they might be or how they might be implemented.
Of course, the PS3 will be getting the better of the two versions, as Maximum 2007 should not only look better, but play better. Koei is pumping in stronger racing algorithms, upscaled horse and rider models, high-def visuals, and a higher quality physics engine. On the downside, only the PS2 version will let you upload horses and riders you've trained in G1 Jockey 4 2006.
The PS3 version is slated to retail at 7,560 yen and the PS2 version for 7,140 yen, which are about the standard prices we've come to expect. No word yet on when we'll see either version in the U.S. or Europe.
