Sony Introduces Logo Licensing Program For PlayStation
Looks like we might be seeing "PlayStation" in other places outside our living rooms and entertainment centers.
Today, Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) has announced the PlayStation "Logo Licensing Program," which will allow a "variety of lifestyle products from apparel to everyday items" to boast the well-known logo. Licensees who enter into an agreement with SCE through this new program will be able to design their product using the PlayStation logo or its "iconic marks." SCE will provide manufacturers with an "Official Licensed Product logo" that will be used on product packages, proving that particular product has been approved. The Official Licensing Program has been in place since June of 2009 for PlayStation peripherals and accessories, meaning the logo could show up on "more than 123 items from 45 licensees" who teamed up with SCE. Obviously, this new announcement will allow the PlayStation brand to expand beyond those boundaries and become more of a daily fixture in our lives. Well, why not? Gaming is big business and advertising and licensing must go along with big business; it's basically inevitable.
We're just wondering what type of products we might see sporting the PlayStation logo. They even mention housewares as a possibility, so it oughta be interesting to see where "PS" lands in the future.

I remember all us old-time Playstation Underground members being able to buy all kinds of "PS Underground" branded goodies.
Damn, I miss that original PS magazine, & as a PS Underground member, I eagerly awaited my mailbox every 3 months for that special PSU mag(which was actually a 2-disc set of playable demos, & with a same-sized enclosed booklet too).
