Uncharted 2 Update: No More Exploits, Cash Award Changes

Naughty Dog is one of those developers that we watch very carefully, just because of a little series featuring Nathan Drake.

And while last year's Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was indeed amazing, people often forget that it continues to boast a robust and fulfilling online multiplayer experience. Furthermore, the developers continue to make that experience better and better with frequent title updates. According to the Naughty Dog blog, title update 1.09 will be read to go today, and it will feature the following alterations for your playing pleasure:

Changes made to multiplayer character skin system to allow for voices to be included with future skins
Made changes to character game mechanics to prevent players from using exploits
Fixed ability for players to “super throw” the treasure in Plunder matches
Cash awarded per kill in Elimination has been increased to $750 per kill
Enabled the ability for Naughty Dog to easily alter the amount of cash earned for individual Medals on a playlist or gametype basis and per-kill

They will also issue a LiveData update that rescales the Medal cash awards for Objective-based matches. The cash awarded for individual and kill-based medals in these matches has been decreased, while the Objective-based medals have been increased in value. You've likely already completed the single-player campaign for the game more than once, but if you haven't tried the multiplayer, you're missing out. It's pretty darn fan.

Good! i can't even tell you how many times some damn cheater would get inside a wall or under the ground and shoot people from places you cant see.

Pathetic how quickly people will take advantage and cheat anyway they can.

Most of these cheats are more annoying, rather than entertaining. I remember people were hanging on an invisible ledge in Ice Cave in the lower levels and wait to pull down any bystanders. I kicked the idiot down, that was the sweetest revenge.

The thing about cheating is that you only cheat if you lack the skill to actually play. I continually hear people who cheat justifying it by trying to tell me that they're not cheating. No, they're using their mad skillz to exploit the game in ways the developers couldn't dream of, 'coz they're so good and all that.... whatever.

My point of view on cheating and cheaters is;

You cheat to gain an edge that you can't gain through legitimate play. Therefore you cheat because you're not as good as me. Cheater.

Not calling anyone here a cheater, just relating how I think and feel about cheating and those that do it.

tbh, ive never experienced a cheater on UC2 but its good to know they have fixed it for the people who have had the miss forune of playing with them.

I see it most common in the Fort and a sniper rifle in Santuary. It seems like they fix it every time, and new cheats come up.

nice to see game companies taking cheaters more seriously. Beat the single-player (obviously) but have yet to try the multilayer. I guess I'll give it a go sometime soon.

I haven't played the multiplayer since the demo but if I ever get through the 4 games I'm playing right now I mean to get back to Uncharted 2. I don't do multiplayer but that was pretty darn fan... I mean fun.

I've only played the demo for the multiplayer which I didn't really care for because there was no explanation of what you were supposed to do in the different game modes.

I'm assuming in the full game it tells you what you're supposed to do. Sorry, but telling me that it's plunder mode doesn't really tell me anything.

As for the cheaters, cheaters always suck and in any MP game you will find them.

I would say count me in say in a month :) I love the multiplayer aspect of this game, heck I just love the game. But nice to see that cheaters are getting what they deserve the worst thing I hate is a cheater see alot of them on bioshock 2.

Because of cheaters I abandoned on-line gaming, the anger is not worth it.

The worst experience was UFC 2009, People breaking their connection wen they are about to lose, just to keep a clean record. man... I smashed my controller once out of pure frustration and anger. That was it... no more on-line gaming for me.

I've seen some companies start adding super draconian penalties for disconnects. That brings it's own problems, but it sure ended the practice of people disconnecting instead of losing.

Thank God they've stopped the cheaters. The other day I kept getting killed by someone but I could'nt see them. The bullets were coming from out of a wall. I thought the game was broken. It was pissing me off. Then I heard someone say they were "glitching". It made the game unfair so I left. Modding, hacking, glitching, is bulls..t. The game has Situational Awareness and people still have to cheat. I leveled up the hard way..by playing for about the last six months. The multiplayer in UC2 is flat out fantastic!

Do this mean that there's been multiplayer exploits in the game since launch and until *now*, closing in to a year later? If so, then... *wow*... I'd love to see how that'd been commented if this happened to be almost any other game than this... Say, MW2 for instance...

Until somebody playing the game finds the exploit there isn't anything to fix so I don't know what you could expect from them.
