SOCOM 4 Delayed Until 2011
Although it was initially scheduled to be part of Sony's impressive holiday lineup, SOCOM fans will now have to wait a bit longer.
We had heard a few days ago that SOCOM 4 might be pushed into 2011 but we didn't bother to toss up an article until we heard something official. Well, the update over at the SOCOM blog is pretty darn official. As you can see, Zipper Interactive Senior Community Manager Jeremy Dunham has confirmed that SOCOM 4 is now scheduled to launch in 2011. But hey, the team doesn't want to release a sub-par effort:
"While we're certainly aware that you've been looking forward to playing SOCOM 4 this year, we don't want to take any shortcuts. Instead, we want to deliver the best and most immersive SOCOM game we possibly can and we're going to use our extra time to do just that."
We're not about to condemn a development team for a perfectionist mentality; for delaying a game so they can get it just right. We do have a little something against continual delays, but this is only delay #1 for the fourth SOCOM, and we're hoping the next release date we receive will be the real deal. Also, remember that SOCOM 4 will support PlayStation Move, so it'll be one of the first shooters to utilize Sony's new motion sensing technology.

We've all played games that were fundamentally good, but just a little rushed, and said to ourselves "damn, if only they had a few more months this game would have been special, but as it stands, its just a steaming pile of crap that failed to live up to its potential"

this year all they had to compete with was MoH or COD black ops, pushovers in comparison to who they will have to compete with next year!
THQs unannounced game, home front and Xcom to name a few!
big mistake!
sony has brought this game from a GOTY contender to a lonely bargain bin release!

Zipper, the developer, decided to delay the game not Sony. They did it not to destroy your fragile little perception of how things should be, but to make a better experience. Does it suck, yes. Is it going to be the downfall of this game because they push it to make it even better, no probably not.
You can stop crying and throwing hissy fits now the world isn't ending any time soon. It's just embarrassing at this point.

But I'm glad to hear that they'd rather spend more time to polish an excellent experience. I respect developers' decisions to do that.
Good things come to those who wait. Just look at Man Furismo Jive.
