Analyst: The Big 3 All "Winners"

Everyone, from the most casual gaming fans to the industry analysts who are so often "in the know," has an opinion on who will come out on top in the new generation. The majority appear to be giving the temporary - or short-term - crown to Nintendo or Microsoft, while claiming that Sony will win out in the end. Others foresee a shaking up of the pecking order, and just about all of us agree it's going to be a very close race throughout.

But could it be possible for all three companies to win out in the end? Is that even feasible? Well, the numbers say no (one will always have higher or lower sales numbers than the other), but well-known industry analyst Michael Pachter says yes...to some extent. In speaking with Gamasutra, Pachter had this to say about who would "win" the console war.

"Nintendo will look like the winner for a while, then they will lose a bit of steam. Microsoft will chug along doing a great job, and Sony will lag badly. My guess is that during early 2009, people will be calling Microsoft the winner. Later that year, sentiment will probably shift again, and people will start calling Sony the winner."

So everyone can call themselves a winner at one point or another, huh? Heck, that sounds good to us. If all three are feeling good about what they're doing in the game market, all three will continue to stick around, and all three will continue to give us great games. So we say, winners all around! Go for it!
