New Vanquish Gameplay Combines Fluidity And Power
Although it isn't getting a ton of attention - what with all the known blockbusters heading our way soon - Platinum's Vanquish might end up being a huge sleeper hit.
Or at this rate, with so much in the way of gameplay footage hitting the Internet, it might not be much of a "sleeper" by the time it launches. Here's the latest video, featuring 3+ minutes of fast-paced, over-the-top goodness, and it really gives you a good idea of what to expect. There's a whole lot going on at all times, and the smooth transitions between sliding, shooting, and running is quite impressive. You gotta check it out.
We're sort of hoping that super sliding doesn't take the limelight throughout the adventure. But hey, how can it when you can slow down time and enter sniper mode in mid-leap?! The combination of Max Payne-like bullet-time and insane speed and maneuverability seems like a development nightmare and yet, it appears as if Platinum might pull it off nicely. What do you think?

Well, it seems like Platinum believes if they have a lot of blurs and flashes and CONSTANT gun firing going on they don't have to put any time into decent looking characters, interesting plotlines, good graphics, or an experience that is anything other than mash mash mash mash mash. I dunno, I'm not much into arcadey games anymore. I want some damn substance over style and flash.
Basically, yeah it would be a fun rental, but since there is no multiplayer for the crackheads that usually like these games I don't see any reason to own it.

You know before wet came out it showed all kinds of video of smooth butt sliding action, but then when you play it, the butt sliding was broken and annoying. I highly doubt this will be different.
I don't feel any different about this game after this video.

BUT, looking at it graphically, it just feels so wrong, like I slathered a whole jar of Vaseline on my glasses before wearing them.
So, sorry to say, I'll have to Vanquish this game to the bargain bin, & pick up MOH instead.
At least MOH won't make me feel like I need a seeing-eye dog, a white tipped cane, and a cup of sharpened #2 lead pencils for sale in a tin cup on a dangerous street corner.
