EA, Linkin Park: "One-Of-A-Kind" Medal Of Honor Trailer

Gaming is big business. ...we have to keep repeating that because there are bound to be a bunch of people going, "whoa, so like, bands as big as Linkin Park are like, in video games?" And for the record, the word "like" is starting to irk me.

EA has announced a collaboration with Grammy-award winning rock band Linkin Park for the benefit of the upcoming modern-day shooter, Medal of Honor. The popular group will headline the in-game soundtrack for the game but as an added bonus, the lead song to their new album, "A Thousand Suns," will be featured in EA's project. It's called "The Catalyst" and you can hear it below in an all-new, freshly released trailer. This trailer you see here is a "unique first-of-its-kind mix of live footage and intense modern military action from the Medal of Honor game," and it was directed by the band's Joe Hahn. For more, head to the official site. Said Hahn:

"This is a unique, creative association for us and a collaboration that we are excited about. The opportunity to help introduce 'The Catalyst' via the new Medal of Honor game creates a new bond between EA, our fans, and the band's overall vision for the new digital frontier. We are enormously proud of the music on A Thousand Suns and are excited to have created an exclusive trailer around the lead track."

For the record, Linkin Park was recently named the #1 selling Rock/Alternative Band of the Decade by SoundScan/Billboard, amassing more than 50 million sales worldwide. As for MoH, as if you needed to be reminded, the newest effort is the first in the franchise to focus on a war other than World War II. This time, it's all about the modern war on terror and it's centered in Afghanistan. You will step into the boots of the elite Tier 1 Operator, and the U.S. Military has indeed played a correspondent role in the development of this game.

I am feeling the same way at first I wasn't sure but the footage, the more I hear about it the more I want it.

It is shaping up to be a very good game. I just hope the release date isn't close to Ghost Recon because I am really liking that game and now, I don't know which one I want more.

No....

there last album was a completely different style for them.

They used to be one of the best rock bands of their time.

They tried to change their style to fit the ever growing sad and lonely teenage songs, unfortunately, the new style, just wasnt right for them. Im glad they DID make a few songs that fit their older style, eg. What ive done, and New divide.

I honestly don't care about Linkin Park. I'm not a fan of their music so I guess I'm outside of the 50 million sales they've sold. I'll buy this game if the gameplay is good and that's the only reason I'd buy this game. I don't care about who does the soundtrack as long as the game itself is decent!

Some of you guys make your own opinions like it's fact. Obviously, people would have different taste in music as we do food and everything else.

You don't like it? Great.. but do we really need to go further and start degrading others that don't favor the same things as you?

It is a fact that Linkin Parks music is talentless, over produced studio drivel. Doesn't mean people can't like.

Relax champ. No one is "degrading" anyone. There are a lot of people who like bad music. Nothing to be ashamed of.

This game interests me more and more as the days roll by. The thing that really got my attention was during the E3 conference with Sony, when they said that one of the focuses of the MoH series was in respect for the soldier. Something about that really clicked with me.

It seems like they are really going to develop a strong narrative for this game, at least from the standpoint of emotional involvement. This is something we need.

only thing i can not understand is why has this been given a free pass while six days got so much controversy and media hate it caused konami to back out!
i dont get it, a group of soldiers make a game based on real past wars and the media chops them too bits!
than EA go out, and enlist a few tier 1 operators to help them make MoH and its fine.
antivision have done the same thing with black ops.
WTF?
its ok for antivision to do it, its ok for EA to do it, but its not ok for konami to do it?
figures! the only one of the three that actually looked half decent is the one that gets canned!

The whole reason that 6 days is contiversal is that Faluja was a very contraversal fight in the eyes of the media due to civilian deaths. Wheres recent cod games are based around fictional wars and the tier 1 groups are precise and have caused very few civilian causalties. However I wanted to play 6 days due to the fact that faluja utilized various tactics that are not normal and would make for great game play.

Medal of Honor is looking good so far. I think most, if not all, of the trailer was CG (and of course some real life footages) though, so until I see some gameplay or more of it, I can compare between this, black ops or Socom for my next shooter.

As for Linkin Park, I'm not going to lie, they have some songs I like, but also some that I really hate. I think one of the reasons people dislike them is because they range so much in their music. They have rock alternative, rap, metal, and even some that are country-ish.. so in a way, it's also hard for me to decide if I like them or not.

I have to say that was a very good music video but if it were a trailer I would remove the live action. I am pretty impressed with how the game is comeing together. I like how it is about a real war rather than a made up one in the near future (I'm looking at you MW2). I love how there are A-10s, they are on of my favorite planes.
