Insomniac Can't "Resist" Teasing A Big Announcement
Insomniac has switched back and forth between their stellar Resistance and Ratchet & Clank franchises this generation...but we're a little overdue for a Resistance 3 announcement after last year's Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time.
Most have assumed the third iteration in the developer's critically acclaimed FPS series is in the works, but it didn't receive an unveiling at E3, as many had hoped. The lack of news prompted many to think Insomniac, in their recent move to include a big multiplatform project, might've shelved the Resistance name in the face of stiff competition like Guerrilla's Killzone and Bungie's Halo. But Insomniac is teasing a big announcement that may occur at GamesCom, which is only a few weeks away, and their announcement of an announcement might - depending on if you feel like reading between the lines - indicate the impending unveiling of Resistance 3. This bit comes from their recent newsletter to followers:
"...yes, we realize we're announcing an announcement, and that we announced this newsletter announcement via a Twitter/Facebook announcement earlier this week. We feel a little bad about announcing the announcement of an announcement – but on the other hand, you're excited and so are we.
With that, we're happy to reveal that we'll be announcing our newest game sometime between now and the Penny-Arcade Expo over Labour Day weekend. We're really excited to finally reveal this project, and we couldn't resist being the first to share the news with you. Even bigger news is that newsletter subscribers will be the first folks to see the trailer: the instant we announce the game – we'll be blasting a newsletter with the trailer for you to view at home."
They couldn't "resist." ...that probably means nothing, but who knows? Anyway, the time frame they indicate here would include GamesCom, which runs between August 19 and August 22, so we'll have to pay close attention to that event. And by the way, we love Resistance at PSXE; the sequel remains one of the most under-appreciated FPSs of the generation, in our estimation.

How is Halo competing with Resistance? They're on different platforms, aren't they? I don't see how an exclusive game on one console can compete with another exclusive on a different console, since release of one doesn't affect the sales of the other. I might be wrong, though...

"Want to be the first members of the public to see our new game being played with your own eyes? We’re bringing our new game to a very special Penny-Arcade Expo panel on Saturday evening (September 4th), at 6:30pm in the Serpent Theatre. G4TV’s Adam Sessler will moderate a panel with key creative talent from Insomniac Games as we discuss (and demo!) our upcoming PlayStation 3 project. It’s going to be a really fun session, and you will see things no one else has laid eyes on!"

and i have played Killzone 2 also sure KIllzone 2 is much more epic than resistance 2 but still u cant get easily bored from Resistance 2 it has the amazing triple C (campaign , Co-op and competitive ) which can get u in the game for much longer hours than in Killzone 2
I agree totally that Resistance 2 is most under-appreciated FPSs of the generation .I hope the next installment will get more attention from Media

I hope they go back to the gameplay style of R:FoM though. I like the segmented health bar, quick-select wheel, and more weapons from the 50's. I liked that R2 felt kind of like an old-school shooter with huge boss fights, and i think R2 had cooler enemies, but overall it felt a little generic with the 2-weapon and fade to red health bar thing going on.

Agree 100 percent. When people talk about the big FPSs of this generation -- and there are a lot -- Resistance is all too often left out of the conversation. I thought Resistance 2 was an absolute blast, and I'm probably even more excited for Resistance 3 than Killzone 3 for that reason.

2. Killzone 2 because good SP, intense MP, and mind-boggleing graphics
3.MW2 because a very short campaign and suckish multiplayer
Note: R2 and KZ2 were very close and sweet but MW2 was not that good in my opinion.

Resistance 2, as I wrote elsewhere, is just great in my opinion. That's some of the most fun I've had playing an FPS, ever, on any console. I have a 360 (please refrain from throwing those rotten fruits and vegetables my way) and I've enjoyed major FPSs there like Halo 3. But honestly, Resistance 2 has a remarkable charm. As Dutka and many posters have said, it's probably the great unappreciated FPS of this generation. I'd strongly recommend any fan of the FPS "aliens v. humans" format give it a whirl.
Modern Warfare 2... sh*t, you wanna run around pretending you're shooting foreigners, knock yourself out. Some of us just don't feel the need to unwind pretending we're mowing down humans in real world conflicts that grow worse in the REAL world by the day. Give me fantasy/sci-fi-centric games any day of the week. The reality of modern middle east conflicts is too heart-wrenching and soul-crushing to use them as the base of blockbuster videogames. Hey, just my two cents. I certainly don't judge anyone who plays them, anymore than I want to be judged for enjoying, say, a horror flick or Grand Theft Auto. But for me, and many others, MW2 and games like it just do too good a job transporting the player to current, very real, very depressing conflicts.

2. Killzone 2 = A good game, but not the best in my opinion.
3. MW2 = Really short campaign and awful multiplayer...I don't see why so many people still play it.
Of course this is all subjective, but it depends what you're looking for. For gameplay and story line I would direct you to R2, but for graphics, it would have to be KZ2. I really wouldn't show you MW2. LOL

I'd say R2 & KZ2 are both very high up there, so both are well worth having.
As far as CODMW2, I'm strictly a single player, so although the game was decent, it was way, way, too frigging super-short on SP mode.
My belief is that they purposely gimped up the SP mode just so they could concentrate on the MP mode for the twitcher crowd, thereby massively upping their sales.

However if you do that, the second player's level and stats aren't kept, they have to start over at level 1 every time you play. So we didn't play it very long.
I have my account on his ps3 too so I'm hoping the 3rd installment will allow you to keep your stats. Otherwise whats the point of having the split screen MP.

So if you play on his playstation with your account and he uses his, both will be saved. Problem solved!
