Warriors Of Rock To Shred Shelves On September 28
It'll be another battle for music-based video game supremacy this year, as both Guitar Hero and Rock Band are poised to butt heads once again.
Activision's Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock will get the jump, though, as Eurogamer confirms it'll launch in North America on September 28. Perhaps surprisingly, it'll be available in Europe four days earlier on the 24th, so there's a nice little bonus for music fans across the pond. Said Activision CFO Thomas Tippl:
"Year-to-date, the music category has been relatively quiet due in part to lack of new releases. Warriors of Rock will be our only Guitar Hero release this year, and given its game quality and our full line-up of marketing activities, should generate consumer and retail excitement.
This year's game will introduce for the first time a deep story mode with more challenges than ever before, rock-inspired new hardware, the ability to use your existing Guitar Hero music library and an authentic set list featuring 95 songs."
But although Europe gets it a little earlier, it appears one deal is exclusive to North America: Tippl added that the first million units of the game will come bundled with the first Soundgarden album to be released in over a decade. Damn, I'm old; I remember Soundgarden when I was in college. Anyway, Warriors of Rock might have the most robust and varied soundtrack ever, so the fans ought to be mega-satisfied.

As far as "Warriors of Rock" is concerned, if you have one GH there's no reason to waste your money on another one. It would be like buying the exact same thing twice. Granted, the story mode with a bit of depth would be appreciated and a few new songs is cool but really, I have no incentive whatsoever to run out and buy this game. Jack Black should get involved w. GH and make it more ridiculous, crazy and funny.

Really? I thought it was because of Activision milking the Guitar Hero franchise and releasing 2-3 different versions each year for the past 3 years.
There have been 7 different versions of Guitar Hero in the past 3 years. That's on home consoles only!
This doesn't include the handheld and phone versions of the game. Are the guys at Activision really that ignorant?
