New Vanquish Trailer: Speedy Brutality At Its Finest

Insomniac said Vanquish is essentially like "Gears of War on crack." ...they must've said that after watching this video.

Clearly, Sega isn't shy about releasing new footage for Platinum Games' latest over-the-top production. Strangely enough, while we typically see CGI first and we're always pining for gameplay, the rolling-out of videos for Vanquish has gone in the opposite direction. This is the first time we're actually seeing some non-gameplay footage and while not especially impressive, we at least get to hear some characters speak. However, the emphasis is clearly on the action, which is downright nuts in every sense of the word.

Of course, the voice acting seems to be quite sub-par but unfortunately, that sort of falls in line with Japanese productions these days. All we really care about is the gameplay this time around, and we're wondering how much control we will have over the main character's potent capabilities. So...are we actually going to leap atop that huge thing and beat the tar out of the head with our fists? Probably not, but the whole scene is still cool.

Looks nuts. Will this be an amazing game or a failed experiment proving that sometimes you really can have too much going on screen at one time.

I think they should have made the characters Japanese.
Or is this another Japanese way of appealing to the west?

The voice acting......at least it sounds bearable.

Same here. I will still get it from gamefly, who knows it may turn out to be a great game. The slowing down of time is a neat feature (alot like witch time in bayonetta- platinum games)

I'll probably take a chance on this too. I love sci-fi, space stations, laser guns and all that stuff. I can't figure out the problem with voice acting; Bayonetta didn't have terrible voice acting, did it? Can't they find somebody who speaks English fluently to do some quality control? Do they just not care?

Which is what we normally see in Japanese games these days. I'm sorry, but it's the obvious truth.

I play lots of games. I have no choice. The best voice acting is NOT in the East. In fact, if you take MGS4 out of the equation, it isn't even close.

Wow. I'm so not surprised. The voice acting is horrendous and if my predictions are correct the rest of the game will be just like that.

Voice acting is bad, level design is bad, script is bad, suits are poor knock offs from the Iron Man movies. Game reeks of cheapness.

The voice acting is never great in Japanese games. You can't be picky when it comes it that. MGS is a rare series made by the japs thats has good voice acting. I mean come on, this isn't any worse then FFXIII. Lol!

I was just about to comment that the environments tend to be looking the same in these gameplay trailers but it's good to see something other than urban areas in this. I was a little worried it was going to look repetitive but no mind. And lol at DARPA, either it's a coincidence or a high form of flattery to mgs.

Nope, it's way too much of a freaking fuzzy-fest for me to enjoy it.

And it would wind up aggravating me so much, I'd need at least 43 chill-pills just to get my eyeballs to relax again.

Ok I'm sold. Voice acting aside, this game looks like pop-rocks, soda and plenty of kick a$$. Mikami hasn't steered me wrong yet and I did like Bayonetta a lot (just need 7 more trophies for plat). Day one purchase for me.
