Splinter Cell, Prince Of Persia HD Remakes For PS3?

With so many HD remakes on the horizon, wouldn't one expect Final Fantasy VII to soon be named...? It's only a matter of time, I say!

Anyway, back to reality. A reader has informed us that Amazon France has two listings for the PlayStation 3 that, if accurate, are definitely worth talking about. The first is some sort of Splinter Cell trilogy for the PS3, which would presumably include the three titles from last generation: Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. There appears to be a normal price attached to this trilogy (about $60) and perhaps surprisingly, it holds a November 2 release date (for France, at any rate). Now, PS3 owners never got the last entry in the franchise, Conviction, so maybe Ubisoft is trying to make up for that... Next is another trilogy, this one pertaining to the Prince of Persia series, which we assume would include Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones. In contrast to SC, PlayStation owners have yet to miss out on a PoP installment; the last, The Forgotten Sands, just recently launched in May.

So Ubisoft seems to have some PS3 love up their sleeves, although nothing is actually confirmed at this point. Personally, I really like both franchises, so...gimme.

Agreed. PoP is one of my favorite franchises ever! I would gladly buy an HD remake of any of them!

Once all the HD PS2 remakes are done will they consider a built in emulator or something to allow us to play PS2 games?

I tried playing one of my resident evil games on my PS3 and it just doesn't look well on an HD Tv. I'm keeping an old 32" Tube Tv so I can hook my PS and PS2 to it. My wife thinks I'm crazy.

That's why I keep my old TV. But to be honest the quality is worse than before using an HDTV to play PS2 games (I can use my PS3 for PSone games), so I wanted to experiment with different cables to see if they could help. I still refuse to give up playing my old games.

if its true, then thats great 4 PoP or SpC fans...
ben, this is off topic, but can u do me a favor? can u at least email nyko, and ask them when their new controller called the "Raven" will launch? i really would love to know..
if anyone reads this, check out this controller. it seems like a VERY solid alternative, at least to me, to my broken dualshock 3

As much as I'm excited for many HD remakes, I do hope video game remakes don't go the way of movie remakes where there is just as many (if not more) than actual new ideas.

This is something I'm interested in. I'm really curious if they're full-fledged remakes (see now Square, it doesn't take them 15 years to do it) . If they're done in a GoW / Sly Cooper collection style that would still be pretty cool. Even then, will they be the PS2 versions of Splinter Cell updated, or the XBOX versions? I'm hoping for the Xbox ones. While the first game on PS2 definitely had a few perks over the prior Xbox release (the snow level was well done), Chaos Theory was significantly better for Xbox.

If Sony want to support PS2 HD collections, they should release more, and not 2 every year. PS3 will retire before we get the whole must-have PS2 library.

I played and love all the Splinter Cells so I would most likely rebuy those. PoP I never got to finish the series so that would be a definite buy.

I haven't played any of these so I wouldn't mind getting them, but not at $60, sorry I wouldn't pay that much for these games. I'd go $40 probly but $60 is a bit much imo.

i loved the first splinter cell, the only other one i played was double agent. i have only played the first pop. I THINK THEY SHOULD REMAKE BALDERS GATE DARK ALLIANCE 1&2 and finally bring out the third one

oh please make this true i loved SC and the PoP series.
as ive said a million times ps2 games have always been better than ps3 games, these 2 series are perfect examples!
the SC and PoP games were so much better on ps2, the later versions are no where near as good.

but, if theres one and only one collection i could have it would have to be a R&C one!
R&C 1,2,3, gladiator and add in the 2 PSP games for good measure.
R&C = THE BEST SERIES EVER MADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was always meaning to pick up a Prince of Persia game back in the PS2 days, but never got around to it. Now, well, it's kind of too late LOL. Just too many great PS3 games I haven't even got around to yet, and a gigantic pile of stuff coming out over the next year that I'm psyched about.

I would buy it if they had multiplayer! Honestly I thought Pandora Tomorrow sucked, but the multiplayer was the thing that kept me playing it day and night.

Didn't play either, so I'm looking forward to picking them up. They'll fit in nicely with my GOW HD collection. Now I just need them to remake Ico and shadow of the colossus in HD and I'm set.
