PSXE Poll Update: Gamers Split On Activision Reputation
As usual, the quality of the games is what matters most. But the final results might still prove worrisome for the company in question.
Activision and its reputation amongst gamers has been a hot topic of conversation lately, so we wanted to know if the Activision label has any impact on your purchase decisions. As it turns out, it's a good-news, bad-news situation for the world's biggest publisher: on the good side, over half of those polled said they don't care who produced the game; if it's good and they want to play it, they'll buy it. That's always great to hear from a group of fans that almost always rewards quality. On the downside, the other half of participants said that, at the very least, they will try to avoid buying an Activision game, with more than a quarter of those saying they absolutely won't buy a title made by the Call of Duty publisher. Gaming is big business these days and although some executives frequently say the wrong thing at the wrong time, the overall goal remains the same...they wanna make money. Activision has become an expert at that, but that may not help their reputation.
This week, we focus on something different. For those who only own a PS3, what game do you think they most miss? What title, exclusive to another platform, is the one that PS3 fans are most disappointed in missing out on? Is it Nintendo's Super Mario Galaxy 2? The Gears of War franchise for the Xbox 360? Or the recently released Starcraft II for the PC? Vote now!

I have a wii so those games are a non-issue for me. I also have a good gaming pc so i've played crysis a few times, and i've tried Mass Effect 2 just to find it worse than the first, which i actually enjoyed. L4D is boring no matter what platform it is on, and Alan Wake just doesnt look like my kind of game.
I do, however, love to drive. I find it unbearably painful to drive with a controller, and i'm not buying MS's terrible wheel, so i never really got into Forza 3 much. I'd like to, but i probably never will.
Why is Halo 3 on the list twice? Did you mean Reach or something?

I would like to try out last odyssey, fable 2, and fable 3 when it comes out, but thats pretty much it.
I didn't grow up playing zelda's so I don't really miss that. I got to try halo 3 for a hour or so and I didn't like it.

'Mass Effect 2'
BioWare is one of the best developers out there, in my opinion, and I really think PS3 owners would reward them if they brought the 'Mass Effect' trilogy to the platform.

But in all honesty there are so many quality games out there for PS3 that I don't feel one bit like I am missing much on other systems. I feel quite happy in my decision to have JUST a PS3.
I mean c'mon it only does everything.

And It really sucks for the competition, but I dont have any enthusiasm to play any of those games on that list! My roomate bought star craft 2, yeah it looks fun, but im not into the whole pc thing, and if he were to let me play it on his laptop i might sit down with it but I don't feel im missing out. As for the others on that list, My buddy has Super Mario Galaxy 2, (i enjoyed the first) So i could borrow it from him. It would gimme an excuse to turn my wii on, since it hasn't been in about 2 years! But I dont feel like im missing out. Great games on that list, for sure. Games I need or missed out on, NO!

fix your games, put some dam polish in them and differentiate sequels to justify a full price release.
if a game is exactly the same as its predecessor just with new levels than offer it at a reduced price.
thats all they have to do, EA use to be the most hated publisher and now there one of the most loved publishers!
EA use to be a brand name for bottom of the barrel, buggy unfinished games.
now its a badge of high quality unique risky polished games!
just look at army of two the 40th day, or dead space, or mirrors edge, or there lineup containing crysis2, bulletstorm or dead space 2.
i really hope they do a mirrors edge sequel, that game was so much fun and so unique!
theres really no other game out there like it, so it certainly deserves to get a sequel.
though i doubt it will happen sadly, criterion are working on MoH now and will be working on battlefield 3 once MoH is done so wheres the time for ME2?

I'm regards to the poll, the only ever game I truly loved that I was soooo close to buying a cheap 360 to play was the fable series so that would be my vote.
I had an original xbox given to me when my friend updated to 360 and I played the he'll out of halo and got pretty darn good at it but that skill faded away and I lost interest.
Am currently trying for a free xbox slim though so will finally be able to play fable :D I'd never pay for an xbox.

The other Fables' were "works in progress"... the series has finally matured with release three and that "chicken" into cinematic was hilarious. If noon have seen it yet I encourage you to do so... it has to be one of the best intro's to a game ever!
Also... its Mafia II in two weeks... I have decided to pick it up on day one... I hope some in the community will pick it up too :)
I don't care much for Activision... we'll see how well the continuing CoD series sells, but I am sure fatigue will eventually set in... at least for the CoD name... maybe not, who knows...

I'm absolutely loving the Fallout 3 Broken Steel DLC, and would really like to get the other DLC's, but I've got Red Dead Redemption sitting on the shelf. Then there's Enslaved, Arcania Gothic 4, Star Wars Force Unleashed 2, Fallout New Vegas, F1 2010, then Gran Turismo 5 is pre-ordered for November, then it's on to Dead Space 2, Vanquish, Deus Ex, LA Noir, Crysis 2, Need For Speed Shift 2, Killzone 3 - and I'd LOVE to play Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion...oh yeah, still haven't played Uncharted 2, God of War III or Heavy Rain.
LOL, if I can get around to two-thirds of those games by the middle of 2012 I'll be doing pretty good!

Gameplay-wise, I don't see much similarity. Alan Wake is, at its heart, a TPS. It has a good story, great atmosphere and pretty cool mechanics (in my opinion) that make it more than your basic shooter but it's still one.
Heavy Rain is more of a work of interactive fiction where the emphasis is way more on the story and less on stuff like shooting, etc.

On the list, it's Legend of Zelda by a landslide for me. I was in absolute LOVE with Zelda back in the NES and SNES days, and I love 3D Dot Game Heroes now too. lol!
If Fable was on the list, I might have considered that, but truth be told, I have Fable 1 on my PC, and I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they put the second one out on PC as they did the first. If not, I'm not too cut up about it.

Not a huge Halo fan, prefer Starcraft elsewhere, wouldn't mind Alan Wake and Left 4 Dead 2, and who needs Forza with GT5 around the corner.

They suffer, however, in the plot/story department. As was apparent with Crysis. But the graphics were absolutely through the roof in that game.
