Black Ops Multiplayer Gameplay Debuts And Impresses
If there's one thing the Call of Duty franchise thrives on, it's multiplayer.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is arguably the most popular multiplayer game in history and there's no doubt that millions will also sample the upcoming Black Ops online. As Treyarch is at the helm for this one, and the single-player campaign for Call of Duty: World at War was appropriately lengthy, we're hoping Black Ops will also be able to deliver on both fronts. But for now, the focus remains squarely on the multiplayer, 'cuz an all-new look at the gameplay has arrived.
Looks pretty good, doesn't it? This year, it'll be tough to beat Battlefield: Bad Company 2 in the multiplayer category, and Medal of Honor looks to be a winner, too. But if there's one title that should deliver the online goods in spades, it's right here. We're wondering what percentage of new Black Ops owners will actually play the campaign before jumping online...

comes with 4 cameras built in, hooked via optics.
not bad, not bad at all and its actually easier to use than a normal gun because the robot controls the backfire so you get less recoil.
this things suppose to be more accurate on full auto, than a fully trained soldier!
impressive!

What these developers need to understand is that once a series is being milked, gameplay then needs to be more innovative and flexible because it gets old pretty fast. They are still using the same formula that they used for COD4, WAW, and MW2. I as a consumer would rather spend my money on something more interesting like Infamous 2 or LBP2. Personally, I don't think the developers care because, at the end of the day, millions of people will still buy their product. I loved COD4 because it did something innovative. It brought in a newer and better interface than its predecessors. It also redefined online play. So far, in my opinion, MW2 hasn't done that; WAW hasn't done that; and this doesn't appear to be doing that.
Activision won't be getting my money this holiday; not because I dislike the way they conduct their businesses, but because their games are becoming like the Madden series to me- same formula for every game, little addendums to new games, and a lot of hype. When they do something like COD4 again, then I will be interested in buying their games.

Also I like new maps for multi player. When you find a sweet sniping spot its really rewarding. You also got new killstreaks and guns to try out. Perks will be different so you can try different setups!!
All in all there will be enough differences to warrant a purchase.
What is this? Thumb snypa down day? Double points on a wednesday?? Just cos u lot dont like CoD u thumb me down. U only get pwnd cos you dont practise enough!!

But I will definitely be checking out the campaign in both first. But I always played MOH for the campaign and COD for the MP. Except W@W that campaign was awesome!

Graphics-wise (imo) it's nothing great (I know, if it ain't broke...), and they've kept the on-screen types of kills (a la MW2) which was an aspect that didn't gel with me (too arcadey), whereas MW just seemed cleaner.
I'll probably get thumbed-down for speaking against the game, but each to their own...
Hopefully BFBC's Vietnam pack (and free to owners that bought the game), while it probably won't be better than Black Ops, will at least hold it's own against it.

"If it ain't broke then make it better.
Uncharted 2 wouldn't have made the unbelievable strides it did otherwise."
Very true, fair enough. I just think that MW2 was a step back from MW and this doesn't really look that much different.
After reading the "10/10"'s and "96%" from magazines, instead of getting caught up in the hype I'm gonna reserve judgment on this myself. I expect the online will be good, but since MW2 and the number of faults/patches that followed (not sure if they still do though), I'm not that excited about this release.

Take black ops, moh, mw2, bc2, and any other current shooter I'm forgetting, remove the hud from all of them, I doubt anyone would notice much of a difference at all.
I want someone with some good video editing equipment to make a video like this one, but using clips from all of them, minus the HUD and I bet no one would know they weren't all the same game.
For all you fps nuts, congrats you'll have plenty to do, now where are me some role playing games.

People can thumb me down all they want, graphically shooters look alike, all you need to figure that out is 2 good eyes and some video's of the games.

Although, I can definitely understand how it would be frustrating to be a fan of rpg's and see nothing but shooters coming out. If you never play them then you probably can't really see the differences.

i can point out the differences between BFBC2 and MW2 without a doubt if someone made a video with no HUD and many others can. In fact, the only ones that would be hard to point out would be CoD games. Its not that hard since the games differ greatly and not just exploding walls either
Hate on fps games if you want, but your statement got thumbs down for good reasons. If one can't spot the differences between CoD, BFBC2, KZ2, MAG, Halo, Crysis, then you need some glasses. Your statement makes as much since as me saying all rpgs are graphically identical.... let that sink in
If they all looked graphically the same ( which is an ignorant statement because truly they don't ) KZ2 wouldn't have gotten all the buzz for being one of the best looking console games at the time of its release.
Its fine if fps games aren't your fave but try to come correct next time. If you want to blame someone for the lack of rpgs, look at the devs who primarily make them, plenty of room on the market for them

I'm talking about all these games coming out right now and I'm not saying they don't have any differences, I'm saying graphically they are all the same. Guns look the same, maps look the same, environments are identical.
Bad company might have bigger maps, but that doesn't change the fact that for the most part they are graphically identical.

Here's several videos of different games, look at the guns, the environment, the soldiers, textures, colors. They are all incredibly identical.
I will reiterate that I don't think the games are exactly the same in every aspect, similar yes. You could easily tho take bits and pieces from each of these video's and combine them without the huds and it would take a very trained eye to spot the differences.

I'm willing to give Treyarch the benefit of the doubt on this one. They've got the benefit of the last year to realise the downsides of MW2 and to fine tune this game.
I'm still not sure yet that I'm getting this game but if I do, I'm sure it'll be fun, to me it looks like fun. The single player is more important to me anyway, so if they nail that, I'll be happy.

But here's the problem: These videos do not even remotely address what are the most major problems with the online experience.
I understand it's hard to have dedicated servers with no way to offset costs, however, they need to do a much better job of how the multiplayer handles the hosting and migration. Why it randomly allows players with terrible ping to host is beyond me. Similarly, it fails out far too often during migration.
The multiplayer lag issues are so bad that you are forced to endure it every single time you play. I just don't understand why it can't quickly evaluate hosts before a game starts. Why it has to basically fail completely before migration is beyond me. It wouldn't be difficult for them to program that, either. To me it just seems like laziness.
I don't really have any historical background to give me any interest in the Vietnam War. Since I'm not a huge FPS fan, I only appreciate single players if I have an already invested interest in the story. Other than that, I get them for the multiplayer. So really, unless they tighten up the reliability of the online experience, I won't be getting it. I just can't handle all the host migrations and poor ping.
I mean really, they shouldn't allow a host to just back out. Too often, people do that just to screw the winning team over.
