Blood Stone: Inspired By Uncharted 2, Fears Call Of Duty

James Bond 007: Blood Stone could be a big holiday hit...provided it can thrive in the shadow of Call of Duty: Black Ops.

In speaking to CVG, Bizarre Creations producer Nick Davies spoke about the competition for his team's upcoming action/adventure title, along with any relevant influences ('cough' Naughty Dog 'cough'). First, Davies says there really isn't much like Blood Stone on store shelves; the game combines third-person gunfights and hand-to-hand combat with racing elements, and there's even a dash of that patented Bond flair and humor. Davies also mentioned Everything or Nothing, which in his eyes was a "big sprawling adventure that had every kind of gameplay." So that certainly acted as inspiration, as did Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, which he called "the daddy" of third-person shooters. But what about Treyarch's hotly anticipated shooter, the one that is destined to rule the sales charts for the holidays...?

"Obviously the big game out at the end of the year is Call of Duty: Black Ops. So that's a big thorn in everyone's side I imagine."

Well, Modern Warfare 2 was certainly a "thorn" last year, as multiple games escaped out of 2009 to get some much-needed space. Infinity Ward's mega-title is the primary reason we had so many huge games fall into the first quarter of this year, and now, it looks like deja vu. But if you're not interested, you might want to give James Bond 007: Blood Stone a try; it'll be ready to go later this year for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC and DS.

I really wouldn't worry about CoD, this could be their "last big game" and now that Infinity Ward is gone all of the CoD Sheep will be waiting for their next game from EA. Apparently, The Quantum of Solace game wasn't half bad, a few people I know said it was fun.

i think they should worry sales wise man....so many will buy the new cod
qos was ok it used cods engine and was a bit like a bond cod game

There is some fun to be had in QoS for sure, but don't go in expecting a MW killer. The cover system was great as was the blind-firing and different online game modes. The single-player was mostly forgettable and rather short, as most fps tend to be.

From what their inspiration was this game is starting to sound interesting. Although, they need to talk to Naughty Dog about how to do graphics, even that other machine can do better graphics than what was shown in that reveal trailer.

I loved Everything or Nothing.

The way I see it is like this; Uncharted 2 is awesome, and Everything or Nothing is hands-down my favourite Bond game. If they're using those two games as their inspiration for Blood Stone, then I will DEFINITELY be there to buy it.

I'm a fan of third-person games. I'm not a fan of Call of Duty. It be nice if people would start to lose interest in Call of Duty, because IMO, those who support it are suckers.

see the thing is i dont think black ops is going to be as big. MW2 was a huge hype fest last year but... i dont know. Cod has gained a lot of casual gamer fans and it could go either way. The story and Multi does look good so i wouldn't be suprised if it did go large but i see it as being less than MW2.

I don't think Black Ops will be the blockbuster that MW2 was for a few reasons: A majority of shooter fans and COD fans prefer the 360 (I think the PS3's fanbase has a more diverse taste in games) and a lot of those 360 fans will be still be busy giving themselves a Halo: Reacharound. And if you think about it, MW2 was the true sequel to a very popular game while Black Ops is more like a new IP since its set in Vietnam and to top it off, its being made by an inferior developer. Some of you might cringe hearing Treyarch being referred to as inferior after WaW, but come on, if you had to choose between IW and Treyarch? A lot of the COD fanbase has a specific appreciation for the IW games.

I would take Treyarch anyday over IW. Let me break that statement down. For the Single player campaign and storyline, the edge goes to Treyarch. For the multiplayer, the edge goes to IW.

Since I don't play online much, I would definitely prefer Treyarchs games over IW. The storyline and character immersion is much, much better.

I loved MW2, but I'll choose other things first.
In november I'll have GT5 and LBP2 so Black Ops will have to wait.

CoD comes every year, I'm not missing much, or rather, I'm not missing anything.

Blood Stone will be in my radar for a while.

These guys can really go somewhere with these Bond games. They've got the memorable character and they've got a great game engine and play mechanics. If they continue to enhance their level designing skills and smooth out their online play they may not be fearing CoD for long.

Well, I am paying more attention to Blood Stone then Black Ops.

It's another COD game to me, and unless it revolutionizes the genre, no thanks.

How in the hell did the Bond games become shooters in the first place?

Everything Or Nothing at least had some varied gameplay, but even it focussed on shooting waves of enemies...which has what to do with James Bond?
