Arkham City Gameplay, Story Details
If you're not planning on picking up the next Game Informer, you'll miss out on a big Batman: Arkham City unveiling.
But don't worry, because the info has been steadily leaking onto the Internet; we've got both story and gameplay info. In terms of story, various notes of interest include the fact that Black Gate Prison and Arkham Asylum are unfit to hold inmates, Hugo Strange is in charge of Arkham City, Two-Face is plotting to execute Catwoman to gain some respect, and besides the poison in the Joker's system, there may be something else wrong with him... As for the gameplay:
- You are now able to counter two attacks at once.
- More puzzles.
- All gadgets included in the first game are available from the start.
- Side missions now feature in the game.
- Gangs roam Arkham City, these are recorded in Batman's criminal database.
- You find people who work for Riddler to find Riddler challenges.
- Batman has his smoke bomb.
Sounds good to us. The other element we know about is Rocksteady's toning down of the Detective Mode; they believe it was "overpowered" in Arkham Asylum. Do you agree? Although we have to wait a while - Batman: Arkham City won't be ready until later next year - we're still convinced we'll get another awesome game. Keep the good stuff and add more...nothin' wrong with that.

The Borderlands car handling is a joke, a bigger joke than the car handling in Saints Row 2, but that could be more due to poor design than the 3D engine...
(Edit: Not to indicate that I think SR2 is using Unreal, it's not)

What little we know is already enough to get me excited and likely keep me excited until the game releases.

If hidden passage ways are still around for Arkham City, I'm not sure how they'll get around NOT using detective mode.
Game sounds awesome, looking forward to Arkham City soon.

If they want Arkham city to really hit one outta the park they need to build their own game engine. Sadly tho, they're probly still using the unreal engine and we'll be set to have another bulky gorilla batman stomping around instead of a sleek and silent nightmare.

They all stomp around, they feel like stiff bulks that have no flexibility. They get caught on every little thing sticking out, their is no give to it. If a character touches a wall or something, the walk in place until you back them up and go around.
I find it very interesting that people on here will bash the unreal engine all the time until you talk about arkham asylum. Arkham asylum is without a doubt one of the best unreal engine games, but it steal has some of the flaws that every game using that engine has.

On topic though, the more I read about AC the more I want to play. But kind of only if its not to linear in game play, I want to explore the city Just a little.

if you want to buy a new one, i would wait because they're supposed to be coming out with new skus and bundles like the move bundle. but if you arent caught up with playing all the ps3s great games, then its gonna seem like a pretty long wait.

In short, you're probably f***ed.
If you can stand to wait, I'd see whether a price drop or bundle gets announced at GGC or TGS rather than buying a new system immediately. Plus, there are usually sales around the holidays.

the enemies in AA were so similar, they really did not pose a threat or a change in gameplay it was block there attacks than counter when possible from level 1 all the way too the end!
a game needs to introduce new enemies, that change up the gameplay, make me rethink my tactics, this stops the game from getting repetitive and boring.
than theres the gadgets, what batman is famous for.
batman without his gadgets is like spider man without his web ability!
AA really did not have enough gadgets to change up the gameplay, it had lots of abilities but they were so similar to each other.
this again made the game repetetive, every level was almost the same.
if i was not beating up enemies by counter attacking, i was using my detective vision to solve a puzzle.
a little variety would be nice guys!
not create 2 levels and cut and paste for the whole bloody game!
they were good fun levels no doubt, but i can only play the same crap so many times before i get bored and loose interest!

The storyline was great. The voice acting sublime. Loved kicking a load of inmates a$$ as fighting was spot on.
Bosses were challenging without being repetitive!! All in all a sturdy game.
If they can add more without losing what was great before we could be looking at another game of the year!!
