Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit: Full List Of Hot Rides

With a game like Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, the roster of cars had best be the hottest of the hot.

Thankfully, according to Kotaku citing a post in EA's forums (as spotted by a reader), there will be no less than 66 sweet rides in Criterion's upcoming racer. You can view the entire list through the link, but highlights include the Aston Martin V12 Vantage, Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro, BMW M6 convertible, Bugatti Veyron 16.4, Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR, For Police Interceptor Concept, Jaguar XKR, Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera, Maserati GranTurismo S Automatic, McLaren F1, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Nissan GT-R SpecV (R35), Pagani Zonda Cinque, Porsche Carrera GT, and many, many more. The game will be all about "racing or chasing;" i.e., you can either attempt to escape the cops or become a member of the authorities and put an end to the careers of those dangerous street racers. We're not entirely sure how many of those cars can be used as police chase vehicles, but we've seen Bugattis and Lamborghinis in the black and white...hey, they need to be able to compete, right?

this would be an easy first day buy for me if it wasn't for GT5, maybe a couple months down the road I'll pick HP up for a quick break from GT, then it will be back to the masterpiece(GOTY)

There's a line from The Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy that fits this. They were describing a super sporty looking spacecraft that could best be described as a muscle car. Theyre' talking about how smooth the thing looks and how fast it is. "Looks like a fish, moves like a fish, steers like a cow."

There are some beautifully sleep muscle cars out there that look incredible but have the steering abilities of an 18-wheeler.

They put in the Veyron Grand Sport! They improved the aerodynamics and increased the HP to 1200. Topped out to 434 km/h (dunno in mph) in a test run!

Yes, it's still the worlds fastest "production car", and it just broke a whole new speed record this past July too....


A Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport achieved a new land speed world record for production cars on Saturday at the Volkswagen Group proving grounds in Ehra-Lessien, Germany

In the presence of the German Technical Inspection Agency (TÜV) and a representative of the Guinness Book of Records the Super Sport achieved an average top speed of 431 kilometres an hour.

Looking forward to some high octane mayhem, although I'm disappointed it's only 30 frames per second, not the silky smooth 60 frames per second that they achieved two years ago in Burnout Paradise.

Whaaat?? I shell out for a expensive 600hz LED TV and the latest game from my favourite developer will perform rubbish.

If Paradise was 60FPS 2 years ago, I cant understand why it can't be today.

Maybe they used the old NFS game engine but slightly updated.

Anyways i will enjoy the game as you can drive a cop car that can rip your face off ^^

Digital Foundry did an interview with Criterion Games' technical director Richard Parr and senior engineer Alex Fry. They said that controller latency is a very big concern for them and they feel that they they'll be able to keep it very fast with the updated/new engine they're using. Thus not requiring the game engine to run at 60 fps.

Sixty six rides is pretty slick. But the police cars should be done up like the ones down here in Aus, oh my goodness they're pretty. Until you realise that there's one behind you flashing its lights. :/

Anywho... I'd like to say I'm assured of getting this, but with GT5 coming up and me still needing to get back to Burnout Paradise and MC:LA, it's not looking good.

ahhh i cant wait for this, ive been screaming for a new hot pursuit game ever since i got rid of my ps1 so its about dam time EA FINALLY listened to their fans!
though im a little disappointed criterion are working on it, i loved burnout paradise so much id rather them work on a burnout sequel and get someone else to do hot pursuit 3.
this, than burnout wheres the room for a BLACK sequel!?

because A the only guy from that team is black himself, id like to see some of the old team in there.
and B he left THQ quite a while ago, which leads me to think obviously he was not happy with THQ.
now, THQ never do a rush job, they always release really good games.
but, well, black would of not left unless there forcing him to do something he does not want to.

i have bought every need for speed since underground one when i first got my ps2, so i will be definitly picking this up eventually, can always have fun on a good ol nfs.

The online should be fun as well.

Absolutely buying this one day one. Hot pursuit was my fav game back in the day and burnout has been sooo worth the money and then some :)

The last Need for Speed, Undercover, I bought was NOT playable. Every minute my screen froze, I looked it up on the internet and it was a common issue.

That wonders if they even tested the PS3 version before they released it.

They really blew it with me... F*CK Need for speed. I really felt ripped of.

I bought Undercover in the bargain bin because I heard it was so bad. I know what you mean and that experience could definitely sour a person on buying another NFS. I strongly suggest you reconsider for this game though. A: it's a return to the old hot pursuits which were some of the best arcade racers back in the day. and B: Criterion has their hands all over this one. That reason alone is making this a Day one Purchase for me.
