PSXE Poll Update: Most PS3 Owners Appreciative Of ME2

There was plenty of big news in August, but arguably the biggest was the announcement of Mass Effect 2 for the PlayStation 3.

And although we're not likely to see the original title, and some have complained that a direct sequel is worthless without the first part of the story, most PS3 owners seem plenty happy. The majority just think it's awesome and they can't wait to play it, and about 1/3 the number of that enthusiastic crowd say that although they won't play it, the announcement is great. The game is scheduled to arrive for the PS3 in January with "hours of bonus content," and while we were hoping the latter might be the first Mass Effect, BioWare has since claimed that PS3 owners won't be left out in the cold. In other words, it seems they'll update newcomers to the franchise with pertinent information (apparently from the original game), so you can fully enjoy ME2. We at PSXE would've preferred Gears of War 3 on the PS3 but that won't happen, so we'll accept the expected...EA just doesn't do third-party exclusivity. It's called big business.

This time around, PlayStation Move launches in September and we wanna know if you're planning on a purchase. Are you going to get it the instant it hits store shelves? Are you going to wait? Or are you just going to avoid it like the plague 'cuz you're just fine with the traditional controllers? Let us know.

This is looking good. I have to admit,this looks like a buy for me. Now we need Gears 3. I wonder why its not mentioned yet. The series is not owned by MS so I am hoping it will cross over to our little box of joy.

I honestly thought that the first Mass Effect was the best. The second one was just more bang, but the first had an awesome story, and the space battle was just plain awesome to watch at the citadel.

I'm not real familiar with Mass Effect so I didn't vote.

I have 2 sets of move and navigation controllers pre ordered. One set is for my daughter, for allowing me to talk her out of a Wii.

The other set is to keep me from using her's, so I can try out Heavy Rain. If I don't like them, then my daughter will have a second set a lot sooner.

I won't be purchasing Move this year. At this point, I haven't been convinced that it's worth my earned cash. The appeal of Move will have to super-cede the value of all the great non-Move games that are begging for my time.

I am curious to try it out, though. I think it's a cool mechanism, and I love that Sony is marketing the peripheral with angle that I like.

When the poll asked what games you want to see it on PS3, I can only think of ME2 being worthy. So I'm happy we will get to enjoy ME2, and I'm sure Bioware will think of something to fill us in on ME1.

The second game being useless because the orinigal wasnt on the same platfrom is the one of the most ridiculous comments I've ever seen. No one called any of the sequels the 360 recieved useless, despite many of those franchases never saw light on an xbox console before. Anyone can tell ME2's move to the PS3 has got the xbots by the balls if they react like that.

I think the Move is great. I want it but I'll be waiting on it. Will be updating my entertainment setup, so after that, it may be on my list. I think having Mass Effect 2 is awesome. I probably won't be picking it up, but it's cool to hear that they'll be filling in the missing piece to Mass Effect with some sort of introduction. I think that's more than enough to enjoy the series.

'Till Sorcery comes out I can't really get MOVE.

Hopefully Sony and other devs will start to show games that actually cater to the hardcore. Other than that I just can't get it.

And don't care 'bout Mass Effect at all.

If they do It right, no one likes a crappy port. If they took time to utilize the tools for the PS3 and understand them then yes It will be a good port.

I guess nobody likes inferior ports. However, we should remember that Bioware has done a good job with Dragon Age, their first PS3 game. It may not be on the same league as the excellent PS3 exclusives or it may not be as good as it is on other consoles, but it is not a broken game. Who knows? They might just surprise us with how they port ME2.

as long as they let you choose the most important things from the first mass effect, such as wheather to kill Wrex or not or save the council or not. Most people will be happy.

I can deal without some of the little stuff but this will not be a buy for me if you are stuck with only bad choices.

Definitely plan on getting Move as soon as it comes out (or when I have the money, whichever comes first). Interested in seeing how that works for FPS', and can't wait to use it in LBP2!

Yeah, I know I'm not going to like every single game made for or that incorporates Move compatibility, but, I trust that the assloads of internal devs that Sony owns, are going to be churning out a very wide variety of IP, as they've done with the PS3.

That having been said, the fact that it expands upon the LBP experience which was already nuckin futs, yeah, I can't say no to that. (Plus I already have the Eye, so getting Move isn't a huge issue for me).

Mass Effect 2 would be a great addition to the PS3 library. It may not be exclusive, but it's still a great game that we thankfully would not miss out on.

I will be getting the PlayStation Move, but as part of the 320GB PS3 bundle that I intend to get. That bundle is a great buy, in my opinion, and I hope that it will be available in my region. If I end up enjoying the Move, I would even consider getting the navigator!

I would admit that I wasn't too keen on the Move before E3 last July, but Sony showed that they are behind the product 100% (along with the 3D initiative) and that there are games that would cater to me as well. So yes, I'll try it out.

I'm going to wait on MOVE. I'll wait until sometime in the beginning of next year. That way I'll be able to see what the games have to offer and if it's still popular.

If I do get it, it'll mainly be for Heavy Rain and Heroes on The Move. Besides that, I need to see lots of reviews before I decide on anything else. I'm just trying to save my money for the must haves, and MOVE seems like it can wait for now.

Personally not interested in ME2, as much as I love space opera style stories. Great for those that are though. Like Ben, I'd rather see Gears come over.

As far as Move goes, I am yet to be grabbed by any of the games that feature the peripheral as a requirement (with the borderline exception of Sorcery. It looks and sounds good, but not quite good enough yet), and those that have it as an option I feel I would rather play with a normal controller. But I am interested in seeing how Sony continues to evolve the usage of the device. Maybe I'll pick one up in the far-flung future.

will be interesting to see what this "hours of new content" is, maybe that will lead me into a purchase.
as for move, im waiting till next year.
i was so excited when sony finally announced it was releasing in september, i literally preordered it the day after there conference.
so disappointed all there releasing for it is freaking kids games till next year!
only non kid game releasing this year with move support is heavy rain and RE5 and ive already finished those, and i hated RE5 so i wont be buying that again!

well i dont have 100 to blow on move plus 100 on a game i already own just to be able to play a game with move that ive already finished a few times.
im not made of money, if you like throwing away 200 bucks for a game you finished fine but i dont.
only when move allows me to play games i want to play, and have not finished before will i even think about buying it.

We already have Uncharted and I believe that it is the better story although if Gears of War 3 did come to the Playstation 3 that would be okay.

yeah i agree, i love both, but UC series has the better story. i think if a new poll was made asking which game would you like to see more between ME2 and Gears, most would choose a damn good rpg over a third person shooter since we already have one of the best tps games available

As much as i love the Gears series, i cant say id rather it come over to the ps3 over the ME series since there are plenty of third person shooters out there. Simply put, ME is arguably the best rpg game this gen. Ben may not care for the series, but he is in the minority in this case. the ps3 needs rpgs, why not have one of the best ones this gen?

Sure it would be nice for those that only own a ps3 to get a chance to play Gears, its a hell of a good time but the amount of back pedaling haters of the series would do would be mind boggling. I've seen people throw much hate on the game for reasons that they may have read on other forums and such but i bet if they sat down and gave it a try, they would like it. I still think those that hate it wouldn't if it was a ps3 exclusive

The best RPG can be said by anyone, but It doesn't mean It's solid, people will have different opinions on what Is the best RPG this generation or last generation.

I'm looking forward to Mass Effect 2. I love sci-fi and Western RPG's, so this should be fun for me. I don't really understand the complaints about not getting ME1 - it's like criticizing the very good because it's not perfect. I think this franchise will sell quite a bit better on the PS3 than that MW2 console, and that can only mean great things for the future of the franchise.

As far as the Move, I plan on getting it to play Dead Space Extraction. I loved the first game so much that I'm willing to spend an extra $100+ to play one of the sequels or prequels or whatever. I've heard it's a very good game too. I'll see what I think of the Move then, and decide if I'll pick up other games that use it or else just let it sit and collect dust :) I'm really hoping it will fulfill its "mouse-like speed and accuracy" promise for shooters, and allow me to sit on my butt while using it. I really think that for the best accuracy, you'd want your arm resting against something and not hanging out there in midair. If it can offer an improvement in aiming, I'll probably be using it a lot.

We'll see.

IGN gave ME2 the "best of 360" award and what would you know... it's coming to the PS3! It looks like a game I would very much enjoy. If they find a way to fill in the missing story points I would look into purchasing it.

I would like to get move, but don't have the time or money. Soon

Depending on the price when it comes out is what will be my deciding choice. I already played 1 & 2 on the 360 so not much new for me to see except for trophies. Although since I don't have a 360 anymore it would be nice to have a game save for 3 when it comes out.

"Appreciative Of ME2"... Dude, that's the understatement of the year. That game IS me. RPG? Check. Sci-fi? Check. Babes? Check. Good story? Check. Exploration? Check. Trade skills? Check.

OMG. There may not be any other game released in 2011. I shall not complain. I may not even notice.

Ben I really disagree with the wording you used in the PSMove poll. I think you meant to say "traditional controllers" instead of "traditional gaming". The reason I say this is because gaming itself as a medium is so young, it would be near foolish to call any play style traditional or not. Not to mention that this is an industry that is constantly re-defining itself year after year. "Traditional gaming" as far as I'm concerned, does not exist.

i pre-ordered Move as soon as i got back from the beta rooms. absolutely loved it. I'm really interested to see how it's gonna be successfully implemented into MAG. but i have alot of faith in it after trying it out. best Move launch game for me will be the Fight: lights out. i loved trying that out, and doing the head lock move was really cool. So yup day 1 purchase for me. 2 x motion controllers + 1 navigation stick and fight lights out. gonna be an expensive month september, but hopefull might be able to get a 3dTV too now that i've found one for £1000.

ME2 will be awesome to own on the PS3. It's an amazing storyline, although side missions are sometimes far to fragile (down to a single reaction to blow them) and it seemed like there wasn't much of a valid purpose to get too fancy with your customization. I played this game before I played the original, only playing the original because I absolutey loved the 2nd game. In all honesty, they do a good, if not great, job catching you up to what you need to know about your characters.

For anyone who's worried about not catching on, I urge you to consider otherwise! This is an amazing game, well balanced for the most part, and very chalenging should you choose it to be. The storyline is one of my favorites of the modern games I've played and the flaws don't scream out at you by any means.

I most definitely WILL buy ME2, new, but will wait until I actually put in more time behind RDR before I plunge into ME2 for the third time (played it twice on PC).

As for the Move, I'm not quite sure how comfortable I am purchasing it yet. I guess it depends on how inclined my girlfriend is to plunge into that. Personally, it's worth it if others in the household utilize the PS3. I almost urge of them to do so because I consider it such an remarkable and essential part of my entertainment center. From DVD/BR playback to Netflix for Dora & Misc movies (which, btw, I must say the online streaming is rather.. Lacking.. I hope this continues to change!) and my PCs music library available VIA networking to the PS3.

But the Move.. Eh.. I know I won't really enjoy it as much as controller based gaming, except for boxing games perhaps (but that's 2 Move controllers!), and I don't want to rape my savings account to purchase something that may end up on the back of the shelf.. Like my Guitar Hero... So it depends on those in my house who *may* be interested enough.
