Bayonetta Strikes A Pose, Demands A Big $500 Tip

It's not about the game. It's about...well, you know what it's about.

Bayonetta is one of the lookers in the video game world, a curvaceous vixen who somehow makes glasses sexy, and manages to combine blindingly fast ass-kicking with a stripper-like flaunting of feminine wares. Perhaps you're a fan. Maybe you're not a fan of the game, per se, but you're a fan of her. Of course, most all men are fans of that impossible figure but are they big enough fans to pay $500 for that figure...?

Kotaku has noted that Japanese model-maker Volks has completed their Bayonetta 1/4-scale figure, and as you take a gander at the pics, you can decide for yourself: is it worth the price? For most, probably not. But hey, there are some pretty hardcore collectors out there and when it comes to an exclusive, intricately designed piece like this, it's a must-have, right? Unsurprisingly, Volks wanted to capture the pose and attitude...they're only missing the lollipop.

Whatever you say, my wife collects Asian ball-jointed dolls (BJDs) such as the ones made by Volks as well as those from other Asian and US manufacturers. Non articulated figures are always listed and sold separately from the doll lines.

These are character figures, for display, not action figures for play. There is a difference. As such, they are not dolls.

According to Volks this is a resin figure. The actual product page (translated) describes these figures as an 'unpainted resin garage kit'. The painted ones are described as 'painted statue'.

$500 could buy me more video-games. I wonder if they'll offer a lesser detailed PS3-edition of the statue for less =p

side note: Vanquish demo is already up on Xbox Live
I hope that the PS3 version doesn't have this horrible blurry image filter which looks like that cheap and crappy anti-aliasing Quincunx method seen in many early multi-plat PS3 games.... anyway, disappointing.

I don't know It looks more fun than Brink would be but that's my opinion.

Yeah, it is demo. And maybe the affect is accentuated because my 360 is connected to my computer monitor(I sit closer because of it) and my PS3 is connected up to my living room HDTV--yeah, center stage =p

Maybe it's just because I'm grumpier playing games in the morning, but I had other gripes about the Vanquish demo as well... Maybe I like my shooters slower and more tactical and my hack n' slash action games faster.. I dunno.

I don't mean to come off sounding like a fanboy, but how can Xbox Live get the demo first when PSN gets its updates first (psn gets updated on Tuesday while XBL is Wednesday). Besides, with the PS3 as the lead platform I thought PSN might get it first.

It controls great. There's a learning curve to be had. Getting use to the eb and flow takes a little adjusting. Vanquish is the result of what happens when Gears meets Bayonetta. Now that I'm more awake and have some food in me, my overall impression of the game is more positive than before.

My gripes: Obviously the blurry, washed-out graphics (yeah, World called it out a few days ago)
I run out of ammo before killing the cool transforming boss--I can't move on?. My support allies are stupid and get in way of my sliding.
The dialogue between the main guy and the girl is reminiscent of MGS... it really lacks in this department. ..I;ll stop here, I'll go into more detail when there's a proper article generated for the game.

LOL, I think the Volks one is better than the original...

Volks are perhaps better known for their articulated Anime character dolls. Though they do make some great painted resin character figures.

I'm with Ben on this one, real women just don't have these figures, not on their own anyway. With a few enhancing garments perhaps, for a short time, it will look like they do. But ultimately that's not sustainable.

I'm sorry, I think she's one of the ugliest looking, video game female leads, that I can think of right now. There's is nothing attractive about her at all. Just because she has a Mick Jagger swagger and wears tight clothes, does not in any way make her a good looking female character.

I want Faith (Mirrors Edge), Nariko (Heavenly Sword), Chloe and Elena (UC2:AT), Rubi Malone (W.E.T.), Sheva Alomar (RE5) even Ms. Pacman over Bayonetta. Why anyone in their right mind would pay $500 on her I'll never know...

Cameron Diaz is as overrated as 75% of the women in Hollywood. Give me Julianne Moore anyday.

I'll wait for the Vanquish demo to appear on PSN. The PS3 is the lead platform for it so I'll play it on that. I logged off of XBLA to buy Dead Rising 2: Code Zero just now, I don't want to go back online.

It's urethane resin, most Anime figures are made of that substance. It's quite solid and inflexible, feels like china, is lighter than the clay or ceramic equivalent and it's easy to manufacture complex shapes. They're very easy to paint. However they *can* crack and shatter.

I have no idea why this game got such high review scores (especially on the 360), there's just no way in hell this is a 9.x game. I played and finished this game (with the patch, so it has nothing to do with slow loading or other early problems with the game), I don't care how you slice it but this is a 7.5 game at best.

I don't really see what's so sexy about her either, like someone else said - give me Elena or Chloe from Uncharted any day of the week!
