More Back To The Future Details

Well, that Ghostbusters game turned out pretty well, right?

We have a few more details on the Back to the Future title, currently in development at Telltale Games. According to USA Today, the interactive adaptation of the popular time-traveling movie series will feature the likenesses of Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd...big surprise there. Can't really have a BttF without Marty and Doc, right? We won't get Fox's voice but we will get Lloyd's, and Bob Gale (he handled the screenplays for all three films), is working together with the developers on the plot. Remember, this is slated to be an "episodic" release so there are five planned episodes for the full game. In regards to the story, Telltale has confirmed the game will include the famous DeLorean and the fictional California town of Hill Valley; they'll also be bringing in additional characters from the movies. Yeah, well, if you don't get Biff in there, you fail.

They should also try to nab the voices of Crispin Glover and Lea Thompson. These movies are classics (especially the first one) so please don't tarnish the name. How's about telling us something about the gameplay...?

How have I not heard of this yet!? Well regardless of my past experience with movie-licensed games, I'm looking forward to this. Glad to hear Lloyd is on board.

Incidentally, I love that you used that image for the article! That one moment is one of the best in the entire trilogy. My dad still giggles whenever he sees that part.

There were 2 actually for the NES, the first one was sooo lame!!

The second one comprised of BTTF II and III but hard and confusing as hell...

EDIT: And thank God, LJN is dead, they made EVERY possible sh*tty game in the 80's, X-Men, Beetlejuice, Terminator 2, Who framed Roger Rabbit...And the list goes on and on...

But maybe it's bad they're no longer in business, they should have developed exclusively for Xbox, seems they share the same "business idea", low quality-high priced short games...

this morning amazon emailed me about movies being released and one of them was the back to the future on blueray collection for $50. think i might get that. i hope this does not bomb. i look forward to hearing more about this i like time travel.

I was the same way...classic movies on BD have to look good right? Not true. I purchased Top Gun/Days of Thunder (2 disc pack) on BD and as I watched it, I realized there are some things HD does not improve. IE: there was a ginormous amount of sweat, Tom Cruise had one hell of a uni-brow, and Kelly McGillis ....well lets just say, "Make-up."

I hope not all classics are the same but from my experience...some classics need to stay non-HD.

I just cannot imagine how this trilogy (original movies) could work out to be a fun game.

Seems like someone just wants to cash in on a once popular film series.

I don't think they should use all 3 films. There is nothing in BttF:3 that would transition well into a game.

5 episodes?? i think they're taking the sam and max idea a little too far... i would like to have all 5 episodes at once, not spread out over a year... it works with the mini-sodes of sam and max but, i don't think i could play 4 hour mini-games spread out 5 times over a year...

That's the power offff loooove :)

For fans of a certain age, Back to the Future is that rare cherished eighties movie that's every bit as great as you remember it. If the games are decent would be a blast to revisit that world. I wanna go Back. In. Tiiime.

These can be fantastic games if the writers are imaginative enough. Imagine an open-world game with side missions in 1955 Hill Valley that affects side missions in 1985 and beyond!!!

So, this will be more or less a pure platformer/driving game? Third person shooter seems unlikely for BttF. Maybe a brawler? Tis a bit confusing to try determine what kind of mechanics they'll be using.

I'll pass on Back to the Future. Never really liked the movies. I like to put my hard earned cash to the no-brainer games i.e. GOW3, Uncharted3, GTA etc. By the way, I downloaded the demo to Flower and it is a most unsual game, in a good way. Its so pleasing and kinda emotional dare I say. I think I'm going to download the full game when I get home from work.

Ghostbusters? Jawknee's eyes would melt out of his head if he saw the screen tearing in that game.

The gameplay was ok, but the constant exhibitionism was just silly. I hope they can do something a LITTLE better with BttF

It's TellTale Games, it's probably going to be something like Sam and Max or the Monkey Island games, especially since it's gonna episodic... just like the Sam and Max and Monkey Island game released this year, lol.

Back to the Future Trilogy on Blu-Ray baby! Also, this game should be loads of fun, even it it isn't. Get what I'm saying? Big fan of the Back to the Future series right here.

It would be nice if they could pull this off. I really can't think of anything that can be done with this title. That's not to say there isn't someone creative enough to make something of it.

I hope Michael J. Fox's absence has more to do with unwillingness than health issues.

Just thinking about altering time or your surroundings has got me wanting to play Soul Reaver for some reason, but I don't have a ps2 anymore. I would like to get my hands on a Hi-Def remake of that game.

Dear Video Game Gods,

Please do the following 3 things with this game,

1. Make it open world/free roam
2. Allow us to travel through time anytime we want (when the time period is unlocked and you have enough plutonium of course)
3. The most important one, DONT MAKE THIS GAME SUCK.

If you do these things I will add you to my christmas card list.

I just finished playing Mafia 2 and, because it's set in the 40s and 50s, I was thinking about how cool it would be if they came out with a Back to the Future game... then I found this. Weird! Awesome! but only awesome if it is the same caliber and quality as Mafia. Get all the original actors to do the voices like ghostbusters.

1) Free Roam is a must!.. I want to live in those time periods.. drive the cars.. walk around and even where the clothes from that period.
2) take us through the movie's and parts in them we love and know but then beyond the movies
..Let us travel to the 60s, 70s, western, cavemen times, roman times, etc. and of course future..
We could upgrade our delorian throughout the game (start out just driving but go to the future and upgrade to make it hover and fly)..
..as much as we would hate paying it (give us DLC of different time periods)
I just really hope they don't make it crappy and cheap. Put some time and effort into this. We love the movies and no one has done a good time travel game yet.
Of course if we mess up something we could cause a major paradox!
