Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath Remake Heading To PSN, XBLA

It's one of those franchises where fans typically say, "the first few titles were the best."

Even so, many who experienced Abe's kooky, dangerous world back on the original PlayStation have been looking for an Oddworld resurgence. The series went fully 3D on the first Xbox, and we got games like Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee and Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath. The games were significantly different from the side-scrolling, puzzle-oriented titles on the PlayStation, but Stranger's Wrath was still pretty fun in its own way. Now, we hear that developer Just Add Water, the team that has been teasing "multiple Oddworld titles," is working on a remastering of Stranger's Wrath. According to one source citing the studio's Twitter page, the remake is coming to the PSN and XBLA:

"Stranger on PSN is probably the first of a few announcements."

We'll be interested to hear what those other announcements are, but bear in mind that all of them will likely be for multiple platforms. Although the Tweet only mentions the PSN, they clarify later by saying, "who mentioned exclusive?" Well, Abe probably has fans from both the PlayStation and Xbox days, so a multiplatform project (or two) makes sense. We'll have to see what else they've got up their sleeve.

This is such great news. I'm a huge oddworld inhabitants fan but would never ever be caught dead with a console made by microsoft so I missed out on this.

Its Abe or nothing. Not really nothing cause I'm gonna pick this up. Always wanted it, but like smokey, I wouldn't touch an Xbox with a 10 foot pole.

Sweet! When I was on earlier on, 'Oddland" caught my attention. I almost thought it did say "Oddworld", but now I read this! I'll scoop this up!

Im surprised about this. Is not Stranger developed by Oddworld Inhabitants? Isnt that a MS owned developer? I do not know what to make of this. yet I do recall Lorne Lanning posting that he was done with the PS and moved to better things with the X-Box.

Well his exact words were "The Playstation is the past, while the X-Box is the future." unquote
The studio made 3 oddworld games after that and all fell hard on the Box. Shortly after the studio disappeared. My guess it was disbanded and all the devs split to other 1st party projects.

Valve sprung to mind from your last sentence. Now PS3 is their 'main' starting point.

Think the crazy hike in PS3 sales had anything to do with that?

Well, once they ditched Abe for Munch the series tanked, and that's not opinion, that's fact, but I still would have picked up future titles had I had the option.

i was so disappointed by this, i literally shat golden bricks when they announced there working on a oddworld game but why does it have to be the crappy 3D ones?
they can do a remake of any oddworld game, so they choose the crappiest one!
WTF?
its like ND gets to go back and redo any crash game they want, so they choose crash of the titans.
WTF?
come on, if your going to redo a game, at least make it a good one!

I rarely agree with you on anything but this is one of those rare occasions.

I'm sure they thought of that but look how much thought and planning went into completing Oddworld. Kids today either can't think or don't want to think, at least while playing video games. Come to think of it, what are some of the great puzzle games of this Gen??

sadly only good puzzle games this gen i can think of is darksiders and portal.
puzzle, horror and 2D platformer are 3 genres which use to be flooded in past generations but this gen are a dying breed.
we have the twitch gamers to thank for that!
