PSXE Poll Update: PS3 Owners Undecided About Move

The results were all over the place for last week's poll, which probably shouldn't be surprising.

When asked if the readers were getting PlayStation Move, the majority said they either planned to pick it up a little later, or they weren't convinced of an impending purchase just yet. Less than 1/4 said it was a "day one purchase," which means most PlayStation 3 owners are likely waiting for more Move-compatible games that interest them. That makes perfect sense, although we should have a nice variety of titles before the end of the year. We'll also be looking forward to Move games like Sorcery next year, even if we're not entirely convinced that motion-sensing technology is great for shooters like SOCOM 4. For us, it's a wait-and-see situation until we can finally sit down and take a whack - no pun intended - at it. It'll be interesting to see how both Move and Kinect are received by consumers this holiday season.

This week, we just have to know your thoughts on the new Duke Nukem Forever announcement. Are you totally on board? Are you convinced Gearbox will give us a must-play game? Or are you too young to even remember Duke Nukem's glory days? Then again, maybe you're simply not convinced that DNF will be anything special...

Yep (we have 2 PS3's). I already have the PSEye (bought it when I heard of GT5's head tracking) so all I bought was the motion controllers for $50 each.

We'll get the other one with a PS3 bundle.

Does/did your family Wii game Max?

I'd be interested to hear the differences/similarities you experience with the product. I've never liked the motion sensing on the Wii.

I already played move. Sony demoed it for salesmen. I can tell you it really is miles away from what the Wii can do.

I only played ping pong but it really is a completely different experience. Movements are really 1 to 1 and it moves on screen just like you move. Because of that it took me 2-3 games before getting used to *hitting the ball at the correct spot* lol its not like the wii where you can just shake your control to hit just about anything.

I want to get that stacking game. So far it looks the best sort of game for move. Aside from the big ones like killzone and Socom. Speaking of compatible games does anyone know if lbp2 will be compatible and if so to what extent.

I voted un-decided. The tech is cool, but I'm holding out for more games and a possible price drop. I will say I think it'd be pretty cool to play KZ3 with Move. When it comes to FPS and motion control, it seems to be a pretty good combo. With the Move as precise as it is, pointing and shooting seems like a good fit.

Yes, I'm waiting for more feedback as to how it performs. So, if it is better than a gamepad for shooters, then I'll be all over it just for that. I'm not expecting any price-drops anytime soon, as the price for controllers and peripherals remained pretty stable over the years...but you might be quite right, especially if Sony intends to market and push it heavily for the mass-market.

I'm basically waiting for more games and extra money for it. Kind of have most my money tied up in other games like LBP2, GT5, MOH, and Sly. I will definitely pick up later though.

Voted will wait for this. Coz I'm hoping it has support for the good games, not some snazzy sports game.

I hope this has support for FPS's. I like the strafe control of a DS3 but the aim control using sticks is a bit jumpy. I know some may see it as cheating, but holding a steady hand can be a challenge and prolonged use is a problem so I kinda see it as fair game.

I was all for Move's launch date until I saw the actual line up of games available. I may put off getting it for a while, or maybe just start getting one piece here and there. I was planning on buying 2 complete sets at the get go.

I need to try Move at a demo station before I can really make up my mind.

I have to wonder what made Duke Nukem so special back in the day. Was it the gameplay or his iconic one-liners?

Ping Pong would be great I'm sure but I already have a table for that. I really suck at tennis on the Wii but I'm quite good in real life so I really started to hate the Wii.

I think next poll must be about PS jailbreak(device to play pirate PS3 games, yes PS3 have been hacked), what we think about it and will it be positive in whole for Sony product sales or something else and etc.

Motion controls are limited in their usefulness. I would have just preferred watching the Wii fizzle away into obscurity while using thumb sticks and eating chips.

I'd rather wait to see a larger list of Move titles that I'm actually interested, but I do see myself getting one sometime in the far-flung future. Not anytime within the next year at least though.

As for Duke Nukem, as I mentioned in another thread, I have never played any of the games. I imagine that it will play in a fairly average fashion, but the story will just be OTT and hilarious. However, I choose to vote for the fifth option, which coincidentally describes itself as well as the game: It doesn't exist.

I'm sold on Move only for Dead Space Extraction. I think that will be epic! Otherwise Move has no real killer AAA title at launch so Ima wait till extraction

not now because A its really expensive and B theres so few games available for it and C what games are available for it are kids games.
only move game i want to play now is the sly cooper collection, i did want to play the new time crisis until i found out they changed it.
LBP2 only has a few levels compatible with move.
shame socom 4 got delayed till next year, i was really looking forward to that and was the only reason i wanted move.

I pre-ordered a Move Bundle, a 2nd Move controller, and a Nav Controller the first possible day. Think that brought me to $180. I don't see myself ever needing more than those items. Amazon even had a deal on delivery day shipping for $1/item, so with shipping my total came to $183.

I'm really excited about motion controls. I loved the PS2 eyetoy and the Kinetic game (not to be confused with Kinect) .... only problem was some of the lighting issues and space inside my apartment.

Also there weren't a whole lot of PS2 eyetoy games. I had Eyetoy:Play 2, and while it seemed fun, that game really needed a motion controller... as opposed to the ..."hold a single colored object up to the screen for 5 seconds and it'll become a paint brush" nonsense.

Ya pretty excited about these controls.

After having owned the PS2 Eyetoy, I really think Sony went the right way with this by adding in physical controllers.

I would love to see another game like Kinetic (again, not to be confused with Kinect). I'd get a ton of exercise if a game like that had trophies.

It wont be a day 1 purchase for me.

Prefer others to test the tech for a while. allow the patches to get out, and more importantly allow the devs more time to create decent games for it. (If they can)

I voted for sitting out the launch, Move just doesn't have the launch line-up it needs to get it off the ground fast, in my opinion that is. So I'll just wait (in your neighbors lawn, with my camera ready and my camouflage on. (digital cookies for anyone who knows what that's from)) until the better stuff comes out, 'cuz I really want to play sorcery, so I'll have to drop the cash next year.

As for Duke Nukem: Forever, I don't know, I haven't played any other Duke Nukem before, so I don't really know much about it, also it doesn't have the nostalgic factor for me it has for you guys.

I was planning on getting the Move for Dead Space Extraction, but the more I think about it, it's the Move OR Deus Ex and Mass Effect 2, OR Fallout new Vegas and F1 2010, not to mention I'll probably still be busy with GT5 and have to force myself to take a break just to play Dead Space 2. I'm making no predictions for the future :)

What I'm hoping is that I can just sit in my chair and use the Move for shooters, without worrying about the controller sensitivity of a particular game, just aiming and moving effortlessly with my motion controls.

As far as Duke Nukem, I never played the original games, so the new one is nothing but a very minor curiosity.

You might down thumb me for this one, but I just preordered Dance Central on 360.

Now just need to save up for the darn Kinect camera. I know, I know... stupid buying a camera for 1 game, but I love dancing, my friends love dancing, and we all hate trying to keep track of arrows on a screen and buttons on the floor. Which is why I'm skipping DDR and Singstar Dance on PS3. Dance Central just comes across as the real deal, a true dancing game everyone can get into.

As for more hardcore gaming experiences, I will eventually get the Move once more 5 star games start appearing for it, and knowing Sony they will come very quickly and regularly.

I haven't been intrigued by Move at all yet. Early reviews of some of the launch titles show them to be ho-hum-ish.

Sony needs some good titles that'll be Move movers.....yes, pun intended.

Meh...don't know yet. Not meh about the technology because Move seems really cool. However, my fear is that I'll by it early in a bustling rush and then realize I don't have any games to play for it besides Heavy Rain. That's why I still don't know yet.

Duke Nukem Forever. I honestly don't know what to think. I'm excited, but I'm not convinced it will be awesome. To tell the truth I'm not convinced it exists yet, but old habits die hard. We'll see when I get used to the news.

Not sold on Move yet. In a crude perspective it just seems like an updated more accurate Wii. Kinect on the other hand, could be anything from an exciting telekinis typed evolution or a crash and burn poor functioning project. Who knows. It is slightly more intriguing then the Move but may not pan out to be nearly as successful. It remains to be seen.
