Elena's Voice Working On Uncharted 2 DLC, Not Uncharted 3

Any time we hear anything remotely related to the possibility of Uncharted 3, our pulses start to race.

We're about 99.9999% sure it's coming, of course, but we're always looking to find evidence of early development at Naughty Dog. Eagle-eyed gamers everywhere keep a close eye on certain places where we could find potential info, and one of those places is the Twitter page for Emily Rose. Rose is the voice actress for series mainstay Elena Fisher, and the Tweet that turned heads is as follows:

"Landed in LALA land yesterday and already the schedule is a buzz.... filming my first Night show today 4 #HAVEN then work on #UNCHARTED!"

Yeah, that was enough to get the Uncharted 3 whispers rolling. Unfortunately, as Sony confirmed to Kotaku, Rose's work has nothing to do with the new Uncharted:

"Now that Emily is just back from filming Haven she will be working with [Uncharted development studio] Naughty Dog on some DLC content."

Bah. Maybe while she's doing that, she can start to handle just a few lines for Uncharted 3. And if you're wondering why the hell Rose looks so much like Fisher, and why Nolan North looks a lot like Nathan Drake, and why Claudia Black looks a lot like Chloe Frazer, the answer should be obvious. Like some other projects (Heavy Rain included), the designers got the actors first and then put their likenesses into the game.

You should see Rose and Black standing next to each other in real life. ...little freaky.

So we could potentially got all of them in one film (were it to be made)? That's whack.

well, they can switch voice actors. but they'll face a hell of a backlash like they did when they introduced fratboy cole. i for one will be pissed if they switched voices for elena. i wonder if theres a next years model....

I dont think its too soon to be working on 3. But my projection is we'll here something next year at GDC or E3, and well see at roughly holiday season of 2012. That's my guess anyways. Even if it showed up in 2011 thats a good 2 years between games, which is about the same time span between 1 and 2.

Good point, I guess what I meant was I don't want them to release it too soon. The gap between 1 and 2 is usually shorter than the gap between 2 and 3 in a series. You're right though it isn't too early to be working on it and I'm sure they are in some form.

Yea I hear ya. Anytime next year with the exception of late holiday season of 2011 is way too soon. I just assume since we have not heard much of anything about it, we will only hear about it next year.

They can take their time on this one!

I agree Vertigo. I love Uncharted 2, and it's one of favorite games. But I do not want to see Uncharted 3 yet.

Uncharted 2 DLC, you say?
I heard they were making some more Co-Op Objective DLC...but I heard that like a couple months ago, I think it was on this website to be exact.

Pretty excited for any news of uncharted 3! I want to hear something soon.

But any DLC for Uncharted 2 is always a good word to hear also! Love that game!

VO work generally takes place over a long period of time. They could easily have some of the scenes written and ready to be recorded by now, even if the game isn't due for over a year.

After all, they need to have something recorded for when they show demos of the game.

Tes you'd be proud. I just bought Heavy Rain and 3D Dot Game Heroes off Amazon and they should be arriving by Thursday. I also took Saint up on his offer to ship me one of his games and I'm currently looking over his HUGE collection of PS3 games.

Amazon is selling it brand new for $30. It's getting great user reviews and I really enjoyed the original Zelda so I think it's worth $30.

I'll let you know what I think of it and if you want to play it I can mail it to you when I'm done with it.

Us regulars really should start sharing games more, thus far its just been a Jawk, Saint, LV thing.

Huh, what? Okay first of all, Elena is damn near a dead ringer for the voice actor. I like it. Next, what kind of MP DLC would you need the voice actor for? I suppose it could be workable into objective based co-op, but it doesn't feel right. The only thing that makes sense to me is single player DLC, but that doesn't fit. Where would it belong in the game, unless it's focussing on what Elena was doing before she met up with Nate. That'd be cool I guess.

I hope it's just a Sony swerve so that they have a surprise for E3 next year. Not that it'd be much a surprise... Cat's out of the bag Sony, announce it... like... last week.

If you look at the character model for Elena in the first Uncharted trailer, you can see how they later tweaked it to make her look more like Emily Rose.

2012 release date sounds perfect! There are so many other amazing titles being released in 2011 that even U3 might be given a run for its money! Don't deny it, that sweet smell of competition! "No necromorph...don't rip up the Helghan until you confirm there is a Last Guardian".

I'm just tossing this out there but what if it wasnt gameplay related at all. It could be for a motion comic like the previous eye of indra series. theres still the matter of what happened between elena and drake between the events of uncharted 1 and 2. they only said that shes working with naughty dog, no mention of uncharted 2. technically, motion comics are DLC. if it is a motion comic, i'll buy it. i enjoyed eye of indra, not to mention giving me exclusive multiplayer skins. so far, i only played with one person using rika raja and none using pinkerton.

one thing though, people are so excited about an uncharted 2 announcement but we all know its coming. Sony cant be that stupid and say 2 is enough when the game has a strong following. as for me i'll be waiting for some footage and the game to come out. no use thinking about waiting for an announcement i knew is already coming.

It's unlikely to be Single player DLC guys. Naughty Dog would have to devote considerable resources for that, and those resources would be better directed towards a brand new Uncharted game. My guess is that Emily Rose is recording for some more co op objective levels or something similar

Clearly it would be single player content. Multiplayer only really needs a few grunts or two or three word phrases. Single Player DLC would be fabulous as a holderover for UC3. I definitely would buy quickly. On a side note, I hope they move away from the treasure hunting theme like the first two. Unless its something real creative and good. Kind of tired of the treasure hunting.
