Tecmo Addresses Quantum Theory's Similarity To Gears
When it was first revealed, Tecmo's Quantum Theory was immediately compared to Epic's Gears of War, and for good reason.
But when asked what sets their game apart, Tecmo Director Makoto Shibata very specifically mentioned several points concerning distinct differences in the online mode and setting. Shibata also spoke about the various influences for the team; Gears of War was certainly one such influence, but that was hardly the only game Tecmo looked at before diving into this particular project. In a PSX Extreme interview set to be published soon, the game's director answered the question pertaining to the Gears similarities as follows:
"We get that a lot. The action-oriented gameplay with Filena and the shifting battlefields within the living tower are something that we think players haven't experienced before. In online modes, you can climb on walls that have been infected with this phenomenon known as the diablosis. You can climb up above people in these really twisted maps and fight from all kinds of crazy angles. It's definitely a new experience.
The setting is unique, too. It’s not a military shooter, and Syd isn’t a space marine. Once you get into the tower and see the design, we think you'll feel a difference with a lot of other shooters."
Shibata goes on to say that they believe Resident Evil 4 was actually the starting point for Quantum Theory's genre, in that it "merged moving and shooting into a really fun game." The developers also got ideas from the likes of Army of Two, Killzone and "pretty much any shooter" they could get their hands on. In the full interview, Shibata talks about the co-op factor between the two main characters (Syd and Filena), the fact that the game's plot is a "major focal point," and Tecmo's decision to go multiplatform.
The demo for Quantum Theory is now available on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace, and the game is set to arrive on September 28 in North America. Stay tuned for the entire interview with Shibata, as well as the upcoming Q&A with Insomniac involving their new project, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One.

its rather hard to believe that Tecmo made this, maybe they weren't in the same room when it was being made or something, but disappointing isn't the word! geeeeeze.
but seriously, issues need to be addressed like.. if the game 'is' actually good, why on earth did Tecmo release such an awful damaging demo?
..and if it is this bad, why are they trying to beef it up? because after people blindly spend their hard earned cash on a game by their fav dev just on the back of the latest quote from Tecmo ..only to find out they have been sold a wonky donkey will ultimately put people off buying anything else that's new and untested from Tecmo in the future.
they should of just stopped it when it was looking and playing rubbish and continued with the next Dead or Alive game :)

This might be a release from the publisher to get an idea of how many people would buy a new console version of the game. Release it on one of Japan's most popular handhelds, and make a decision from there.
The creator may have bailed, but DOA and Ninja Gaiden are still mainstays for the company, so they're not going anywhere. They're just temporarily dormant.

oh, and I know its bad of me.. but even if DoA was on the Wii, I wouldn't count it as a full game. I only count games as being full where that you would want to play for hours, days and months. personally nothing on the Wii makes me want to play it for more than 20 mins.. maybe im just lazy.. eh?! *rhetorical*

Played it today and it's one of the worse demo's I've ever played. The only one good thing that came out of this game is that, when the big games rush kicks back in over the next couple of months, this will be one game I won't have to concern myself with.
Will we be getting a review on the full released game here? Is it possible that it was just a terrible demo but not truly representative of the game? Although, isn't the idea of a demo to be representative of the game?

I want to play Gears damnit. Sony, throw a bucket of money at Epic please?! Still, if reviews are good I may see if I can give it a rent, otherwise I'll wait for Vanquish sometime next year.
Peace.

easy!
ones a fantastic game, and ones a crap one!
if you want a third person shooter gears is still the place to go, after that the army of two series are really good games!
one was ok, but the sequel the 40th day is still one of my favorite shooters!
so much fun blowing a enemies head off with a sniper rifle from a large distance away.

Sure, that co-op play with Filena is a nice touch, but the graphics are lackluster, controls are shoddy and it feels very generic and poor.
That's my personal opinion of the game of course.

BTW Quantom ( Sorry if I spelled wrong ) Is a really good game, demo was sweet. Yes it feels a lot like Gears but it's different... in it's unique way.
