TGS 2010: Mikami, Suda 51 Team Up And Travel To Hell
What do you get when you combine Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, Suda 51 (No More Heroes, Killer 7), and a bit of Silent Hill influence from sound director Akira Yamaoka?
You get the fast-paced, horrific project from new studio Grasshopper Manufacture: Shadows of the Damned. Just announced at the Tokyo Game Show during EA's press conference, this third-person shooter experience appears to be loaded with all sorts of nasty enemies - zombies, demons, and general freaks - a tantalizing female character, and lots and lots of death. Maybe Mikami's recent stints with Vanquish and Bayonetta have caused him to speed up everything he touches but in looking at the debut trailer, maybe that isn't a bad thing.
We'll definitely have to learn more about this one. During the announcement at the press conference, it was described as a "psychological action thriller" and tells the story of Garcia Larkspur who travels to hell to save his true love, Paula. Romantic, isn't it? But it's hardly a romance; Mikami says the game has a "punk rock edge and Suda 51's trademark style," but he also mentions there will be some lighter moments as well. Suda 51 then calls it "one of the best games he has ever worked on."
Shadows of the Damned is in development for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and PC.

Platinum is probably one of the few studios that's trying to appeal to the west while doing a good job at the same time.
The trailer looks good but the gameplay doesn't look that good, not interested until I see something better.

I'm 100% open to new series but I will be very disappointed if for the 4th consecutive year in a row SE does not announce KH3!
