TGS 2010: Yamauchi Presents GT5 Weather Effects
Kazunori Yamauchi stepped up to the podium at this year's Tokyo Game Show to present his long-awaited racer, Gran Turismo 5.
In addition to revealing a ton of information - some of which we already knew - Yamauchi also wowed the crowd by showing off the different weather effects in a new trailer. The quality in the video below isn't the greatest, but you can easily get the gist...the inherent dynamic realism is pretty damn impressive.
In looking at that, perhaps more supercars should be all-wheel drive. Then again, if you really want to train, take a rear-wheel drive sports car out into the rain or snow; if you can manage to make the first turn, you've already learned something. Combine all this with the day/night transitions and...well, everything else, and GT5's hype has somehow climbed even higher. 11/2/10 can't get here fast enough.

Someone needs to record this in HD now!
But wow, man, I thought PD would not have time to actually implement weather. But they proved me wrong, time of day and weather was the very first feature I wanted in GT5.
It was the one feature I always wanted to see in the ps2 GTs.
And wow...they delivered. November 2nd is going to be one for the history books!

For those unawares, VW microbuses are rwd, but they have the engine sitting directly above the transaxle, resulting in them being invincible in the snow. Old bugs were the same way before VW went all front-engine. Screw liquid, bring back air-cooled engines! Hahahaha

Two: I just made the final decision to get the Signature Edition. I was torn on it, but this, combined with the pledging of a mate to get the SigEd has me sold. My only problem, I don't want to spend $500 bucks to get a G27 wheel, but I want nothing but the best... Decisions, decisions...
Peace.

well, almost everything, that damage system looks really crap!
i hope those screens were old or something, because i thought wrecked cars were suppose to look like crumpled metal, not plastic after a hour in the kelm!
ive crashed my fair amount of cars, and trust me they look nothing like those pics!
fix that, and GT5 might just live up to the hype.

ahh, this is a sim so its suppose to have realistic damage thats the whole point of a sim!
if you want to slam into a wall at 100KMs per hour and bounce off and continue driving as if nothing happened than GT5 is not for you!
its a sim, sims are suppose to be realistic!

If GT5 isn't going to be sim'ish enough for you......
then go to a real racing school and hit a brick wall at at about 152 MPH.
I'm sure you'll receive all the realism you've ever wanted in a driving sim.
But be forewarned, you'll probably only be able to do that wall trick once, as there is no 2nd life, re-set, or re-play ability afterwords.
