Aykroyd Comments On Ghostbusters Game
According to a recent Edmonton Sun (a Canadian tabloid) interview with former "Saturday Night Live" and "Ghostbusters" star, Dan Aykroyd, it appears the classic '80s movie is making its return to video games.
"Universal purchased the rights from Sony for a [Ghostbuster] game," Akroyd told the publication. v"I'm actually going to have to perform and do some motion capture for them. That will be next year."
Surprisingly enough, this comes hot on the heels of a very intriguing video posted on YouTube that showed what appeared to be a next-gen Ghostbusters game. It was called a Xbox 360 demo of the title, despite the fact sources had already said the game was on indefinite hold. Zootfly, the European developer responsible for the footage, made such an announcement citing a problem with licensing issues.
Now, perhaps Aykroyd didn't know the game was on hold, or perhaps it means the licensing rights were transferred to Universal's Vivendi studio. But however you want to look at it, the idea is definitely still out there, so that should at least put a smile on fans faces. Whenever more info comes to light, we'll be sure to let you know.
