New Yakuza: "Gun Shot Battle" vs. Standard TPS
Yakuza is a big deal in Japan. And the next iteration - which oddly includes zombies - made a big splash at TGS 2010.
Only days after its official unveiling, plenty of details are starting to flood the Internet. You can find a full rundown over at Andriasang, complete with all new screenshots. Scheduled to hit Japan in April, the rush of the undead threatens Kamurocho; the city's Self Defense barrier means the rest of the country will be okay, but inside that barrier - the city itself - all hell will break loose. You saw them already in that trailer (linked above) but as a reminder, four familiar faces will be included: the legendary Kazuma Kiryu, Shun Akiyama, Goro Majima, and Ryuji Goda.
Also, Sega will be adding a "Gun Shot Battle" system, which is basically akin to a third-person shooter; each major character will have a particular weapon, too. Other weapons, including grenades, will be made available as you progress, and then there's the new "Heat Snipe" feature. It's a spin-off of the Heat Action melee skills in previous installments, and it allows for more precise targeting of offending foes.
But don't forget that Of The End will also bring back many of the familiar features fans know, like mini games, hostesses, collaborations, etc. If you want to learn more about the story behind this new Yakuza, feel free to visit the source link above. The only question is, have they completely eliminated melee combat; is this a straightforward third-person shooter now? If not, might there be a 50/50 split between the two types of action? Series director Toshihiro Nagoshi did say it'll be "different from typical zombie or panic games," and they say it's "Gun Shot Battle" rather than "TPS." Said Nagoshi:
"The gameplay is being made so that even those who aren't good at action games will be able to enjoy themselves. The hurdles will definitely not be high, so take ease."
What say the Yakuza fans?

Yakuza series is not about shooting zombies or shooting at all. It's about exploring.Dating Hostesses playing all the Games available.Buying some food.Helping people with their problems in the city.Using a very awesome fighting mechanic to fight the Yakuza. And plaing a very entertaining and engaging story about Yakuza people.

My biggest question is this: If you were caught in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, where would you find the time to visit a hostess club, or play mahjong. It boggles the mind, boggles I say!

there was heaps of zombies climbing on ladders in that.
tis one thing i really hate about RE5 you can kick down ladders, try and use the environment to your advantage and trap zombies but than they can just leap up.
WTF is the point of kicking down a ladder if the zombies can just jump up?

Still will wait to play the game.
I was waiting to see ryuji again and play as majima Finally with their both fighting styles in a dark and engaging story but that might never happen.
I Hate Expert Japanese Developers telling a story about Japan following American Games.

This is a side story, or spin off, like Kenzan. That is why this isn't a numbered entry, e.g. Yakuza 5 or Yakuza 6 (if you include Kenzan). Just think of it as an alternate reality Yakuza and enjoy it for what it is.
Finally, even Kazuma, who doesn't use guns, might actually pick up a gun and fire off a few rounds to clear some of the Zombie horde bearing down on him before he goes back to using his melee attacks.
So, again, relax!
