Second Vanquish Demo Incoming
Usually, we're satisfied with one demo. But Sega and Platinum Games wants to one-up the competition.
According to Eurogamer, a second demo for Vanquish will come to both North America and Europe on October 22, a few days after the game releases. The first demo was pretty darn entertaining; it featured a ton of action, a massive boss fight, and gave us a chance to sample that flashy, dynamic control scheme. It's currently available on both the PSN and XBLA if you missed out. As for the second demo, it'll gives us a "part of an extra game mode and a separate entity next to the main story." Basically, it's a mode you'll have to unlock as you move through the game; in other words, you'll have to earn what you see in the demo that shows up on 10/22. October is loaded with a ton of potentially great titles and Vanquish does stand apart thanks to a relatively unique style and structure. But it will definitely help to have a second demo available to try, don't you think?
With so many games coming out, all these demos should prove to be quite beneficial. We can't afford to grab every game at $60 on the hope we'll love it...sometimes we're convinced, sometimes we're not.

For me to be convinced of this games greatness though, I need to see more. If the whole game was just slight variations of that level then I think the novelty will wear off pretty fast.

I want to continue to speak out against this stuff because we've seen that devs have listened to consumer out crys in the past: Infamous 2 and WipeOut HD (in game ads etc)
and on a side note, considering Castlevania's sketchy past, it would be nice to try out their rebooted game without any entrance fees.

Unfortunately, the game does (imo) suffer from horridly cliche character syndrome, and it'll only be single-player.

I dunno, that was just a turnoff. I'll be getting my sci-fi fix from Dead Space 2, Mass Effect 2, Deus Ex, Fallout New Vegas and Enslaved - all of which offer a whole lot more than dime-a-dozen running and gunning.

Just yesterday downloaded the Japanese version of the "Vanquish Challenge Mode Demo" and guess what, it supports the same languages the first EU/US demo does.
The demo even defaulted to English text/subtitles and audio - guess it adopts the system language setting.
So why the heck won't SEGA release it internationally asap when no localization is required?!
Anyways, the second demo confirmed that Vanquish ain't gonna be my cup of tea.
I didn't survive the fifth wave, the demo was way too frantic and chaotic.
It basically pits you against wave after wave of increasingly more tough enemies. By wave five none of my AI companions was still standing and it was basically impossible to beat the crap outta the enemies - for me at least.
Besides, Platinum are claiming PS3 is their lead, but somehow Bayonetta on 360 ran at a constant 720p60fps, whereas Vanquish defaults to 30 fps and dips even below that. Don't get me started about sub-HD - on my display Vanquish's visuals are blurry, which is unacceptable that late in PS3's life cycle! The last exception I made was RDR 'coz it's awesome ^^
I'm with Jack on this one. Playing ME1 (PC) atm to import a male Shep to ME2, 'coz Tali needs some lovin' =)
DeusEx will be my sci-fi game of choice. Enslaved CE has already been pre-ordered of course, the demo confirmed it was a good decision. My only concerns are UE3, as it clearly dropped frames under stress and there were slight hints of screen tearing.
As long as the screen-tearing doesn't exceed Heavy Rain's level though, it should be fine. Neither the tearing nor the slowdowns seemed game breaking or fun hampering elements to me.
Just afraid that once again our 360 playing friends will receive a better version of the game thanks to UE3 -_-
