Batman Will Interrogate Suspects In Arkham City
The expectations are crazy high for Batman: Arkham City, but Rocksteady can come through in fine fashion; a few new features will certainly help.
The latest has been detailed in the new issue of PSM3: we're talking about a few new upgrades for the caped crusader's detective vision. Game Director Sefton Hill spoke about the upgrades, which should make solving The Riddler's annoying little puzzles a bit more fun...and a little easier. We say it makes perfect sense; Batman should be able to interrogate suspects. Said Hill:
"As with nearly every area of the game we're enhancing it. One example is the criminal database coupled with the new interrogation mechanic. The Riddler continues to taunt the Dark Knight with mind-bending puzzles and exploration challenges, but the location of his biggest secrets are known only to him and people he's told. Rather than unlocking their locations using maps, Batman will be able to scan a gang of thugs to find a potential informant."
Now, this does a bit more than expand on your options, because it also can have a direct impact on the gameplay. See, you can't just go around mashing buttons, beating on anything that moves without really thinking about it. As Hill pointed out, if Batman needs to question one particular goon, you'll have to find a way to spare him while taking down his buddies. A wee bit more strategy to the combat, yes? Just don't be too liberal with that FreeFlow combo system. Sure, it's wicked fun but remember your mission, you keeper of the peace.
Batman: Arkham City is expected for fall 2011.

I wonder if there will be a "dog tags trophy" of some kind, would be a nice homage to the MGS series...
BTW:
"Just don't be too liberal with that FreeFlow combo system. Sure, it's wicked fun but remember your mission, you keeper of the peace."
Actually, if you pulled the "Ring Out" move you can kill thugs by throwing them to a bottomless pit...
So much for his "no killing" code...

Batman: Arkham Asylum was easily one of the best superhero games ever and I'm incredibly psyched about the sequel. Between this, The Last Guardian, the Team ICO Collection and MGS: Rising, 2011 is looking to be the best year ever for gaming for me personally. :)
