NASCAR The Game 2011 To Provide A Complete Experience

NASCAR fans will have their pick: either snap up the more accessible Days of Thunder: NASCAR Edition soon, or wait until next year and pick up the more simulated NASCAR The Game 2011.

Today, Activision and Eutechnyx have announced the February 2011 release of the latter, which will arrive for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii. According to the press release, it will "redefine what fans can expect from a NASCAR racing game," as it "has been built from the ground up to make a thoroughly new experience." The developers utilized feedback from fans and then took that info to the teams, drivers and officials in order to produce the best NASCAR recreation possible. You can either create your own racer or play as one of the world's top drivers when battling it out for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship, and each pro "has the AI characteristics of his or her real world counterpart." They also say that we'll get the realistic benefit of "meticulously detailed" damage and the car wrecks will be "the most extreme ever experienced in an officially licensed racing game."

Featuring 22 real world tracks and full pit stop strategy, along with in-depth multiplayer modes for up to 16 players, this one has it where it counts. You will earn NASCAR experience points in both online and offline races that will let you unlock certain rewards (special car designs included), and various races await you in the robust and lengthy Career Mode. Said Blake Davidson, Managing Director of Licensed Products at NASCAR:

"While NASCAR has enjoyed a rich history in video games, we really wanted to take the next generation of NASCAR games to a new level. By partnering directly with Eutechnyx, the leading driving game developer in the business, to create NASCAR The Game 2011, we are convinced NASCAR fans and gamers alike will be blown away by the result. With Activision as the publishing partner, we have the perfect combination to set the bar for all future NASCAR titles."

Ed Martin, Executive Vice President at Eutechnyx added that they're working hard to "give this game the polish and push the fans deserve." If you want to catch the world premiere, tune in to NASCAR RaceDay on the SPEED channel at 10 a.m. EST on Sunday, October 3. That's when we'll get the first trailer for NASCAR The Game 2011. Is there really any point when GT5 has Nascar races? Maybe if i were a huge Nascar fan i'd buy it, but having both this and GT5 feels redundant.

There are people who travel cross country to watch these cars go 'round their tracks so I imagine there will be a pretty good number of sales on both these games. And, we all know GT5 is going to sell like gangbusters so...

First play the game called GT5 then speak please.If the game's name is nascar that doesn't mean best nascar sim. Polyphony Digital know what they are doing.Everything they do achieves perfection.

You missed my point. I'm simply talking about features and options, not gameplay. As I said, I seriously doubt GT5 will include everything a NASCAR-dedicated game will include. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's not possible.

NASCAR in GT5 is a feature, not a focus.

Yeah, I'm going to go with Ben on this. PD is no doubt an extremely talented group which no one here will argue, but they are making a racing simulator, not a NASCAR simulator. NASCAR racing is a feature not the emphasis in GT5. Will the NASCAR portion be awesome in GT5? Undoubtedly. Will it be the primary focus of GT5? Absolutely not.

Odds are the dedicated nascar game will have worse graphics than gt5, worse physics than gt5, and worse contol compaired to gt5. But it will probably have a nice team management subgame for you pit crew and drivers who are sponsored by your team.

I love it when I see anyone favoring GT5, but as a big GT fan myself, I also want everyone to have a realistic expectation for when the game does come out, regardless of the hype. I still remember the days where almost everyone expected cockpits in every single one of the 1,000 cars. Realistic expectations > Hype

Now, Nascar in GT5 will probably not be what a full fledged Nascar game will be. To be a full fledged Nascar game, it would have to include most Nascar tracks, every paint schemes, and a full season worth of career mode. To add to that, PD has a very, very high standard in visuals so unlike these Nascar games, GT5 won't probably include a full grid of 40 plus something cars in one track, and stick with 16.

Nascar in GT5 will probably be like Rally in the past GT series. For example, the Rally in GT5 probably won't replace the whole game of Dirt 2. What GT5 will surely execute is at least the driving physics portion of it. Also, as requested, people will experience for the first time on what's it really like to take a Nascar vehicle in a non-Nascar track like the Nurbrugring.

To be fair, GT5 isn't even out yet, and I might be wrong. However, if we're to expect it in a realistic way, it would be that.

I agree with Ben, GT5 most likely wont have a 100% complete nascar experience, but the question is will it be good enough to take sales away from Nascar The Game, or will Nascar The Game have tons of thing GT5 doesnt have?

I know polyphony wont half-ass anything, so it will be interesting.

cool can't wait for the FULL collection of OFFICAL NASCAR race tracks and teams. it does stink the activison has to make this but either way D1P for me.

@NoSmokingBandit GT5 will only have a little bit of nascar in it not the full game itself so i can't wait for NASCAR 11 screw GT5 that right i said SCREW GT5!

While I agree that NASCAR definitely will have more NASCAR features than GT5 due to it being a sole NASCAR dedicated game (I know nothing of NASCAR, and even I know that!), I think it's even more short-sighted to blow off GT5... that game is going to be revolutionary... NASCAR could be a good game and all... but there's no way, from a programming point of view, it will match GT5.

GT5 (and the entire franchise) is so earth shattering, that even non-racing fans have to acknowledge it's prowess.

I'll be honest... I have no interest in vehicles or racing. I keep my car happy... but it's a tiny little Hyundai Accent... I got it because it gets me from A to B and saves me lots of gas money. In all seriousness, I just don't get the hype over cars... it's a piece of machinery with a practical use. I don't know the difference in the design from some cars and others, and quite frankly, I couldn't give two rips.

But even me and my disinterest in vehicles as a whole, knows that Gran Turismo is nothing to scoff at. And I will probably get it... because it will beat the pants off most games, let alone all other driving simulators.

I'm not sure about "screw GT5" but if a NASCAR sim is more your bag than a race sim then I can see where you're coming from. These two games are probably going to scratch the itch of a lot of NASCAR fans in a way that GT5 won't so it's a great thing for hardcore fans.

If you really want an authentic NASCAR(or sim)experience, then Iracing is the way to go.

When the fact that NASCAR has a big huge international market outside of the united states, then your opinion is clearly moot. Lets not forget the fact that pro-drivers who aren't in NASCAR have spoken many good things about it. Speaking of, even the great one himself e.g. Valentino Rossi have said good things about about NASCAR

Nah, 15 is my jersey number from the varsity soccer team I played for in university as well as the provincial premier league I was an all-star on.

But it has been my favorite number since before I was 15! Actually, it's been my favorite number since I started playing soccer 18 years ago!

GT5 will take care of all my Nascar needs, and at that all of my racing needs for a while. at least until Dirt 3, MotorStorm: Apocalypse and I might get NFS:HP at some point next year.
I'm not sure if Driver counts as a racing game but I'll be picking it up as well.
