Beyond Good & Evil Rises Again, In HD For PSN/XBLA

While we anxiously await any news of the sequel, we appreciate Ubisoft's recognition of the original's long-standing appeal.

Today, Ubisoft has announced that Beyond Good & Evil, the award-winning action/adventure PS2 game that stole the hearts of many, will be recreated in high-definition for a new life on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. The fresh overhaul will arrive some time next year, and it'll be complete with Trophies, Achievements, and a few new secrets. Boasting everything from epic boss encounters to exploration to stealth to puzzles, BG&E is one of the more well-respected titles from last generation. Jade, an investigative reporter and martial artist, is the protagonist, and she must work to discover a terrible governmental conspiracy. She'll need evidence of the misdeeds, though, and that's where you come in, so make sure to look about, make some friends, and above all else, stay alive! This game was quite colorful and extremely well designed, so with a glossy HD sheen, it should look pretty damn good. Besides, not many games these days combine so many elements into a cohesive, entertaining quest.

For more info, go ahead and visit the game's new official site. We'll also be certain to bring you any updates concerning BG&E2, which is supposedly still in development.

Like I said before, with this, ICO, SotC and the first two God of War games now available on the PS3, all I'm waiting for is a MGS Collection, ZoE Collection and Okami and I'll have all my PS2 favs in HD!

This is amazing news, though. I give HUGE props to Ubisoft for giving the fans this.

Capcom could do a collection, with Resident Evil 4 and Okami. Oh, and they both can work with Move, after all, they both were ported to the Wii.

Awesome,
Great for those who never got the chance to play it, and now with trophies, extras, & in HD too!!! Quad-triple awesome!!!!

As for myself I've already been playing bits of my BG&E off & on on my PS2 for the last couple months, but I think I'll get it again just for all the extra goodness.

Fatal Frame trilogy = must buy for me

I could never find the PS2 games for a decent price and they NEVER appear in the used game section.

Most of these collections don't interest me, since I either have the original games or don't want them, but FF would be an exception.

Generally, though, I'd rather companies release NEW games rather than these re-releases.

Hey wait a minute, I just realized that Sony finally found a way to get our PS2 games into the PSN & PS3 without having to do B/C.

So now they just need to re-do the whole entire PS2 library for extra goodness for those who don't have a B/C PS3 or a PS2.

And while you're at it Sony, also give us every single game in the PS1 library too.

Er....maybe not Barbie's Riding Academy though, especially seeing how it got the lowest 1.6 review score EVER on our own PSXE here, LOL

World YES,
And the old 3DO games too

Personally, I'd love to see the 3DO's 600-level, highly-addictive game called "Icebreaker", completely re-done in HD goodness & put on the PS3.

I have actually never played this (though it's on my rather lengthy list of games from previous generations that I still want to play), and this will be an awesome opportunity to finally do so.

I like the HD re-releases, and it seems like they conveniently turn up not too long before the next installments release. GoW Collection, SotC, Ico, and now BGE. I wish they'd have given us an HD GT4 last year while we were still waiting for GT5 (Nov. 2nd Yay!). I think it would have been more well received than Prologue was.
