EA: Medal Of Honor Sets Franchise Pre-Order Record
It's one of the most anticipated games of the year, and it's destined to clash with Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops for holiday season supremacy.
EA has revealed that Medal of Honor has broken the pre-order record for the 11-year-old franchise, and we've still got a week to go before the game arrives. They wouldn't give us any numbers, though, so we'll just have to take EA's word for it. The new MoH installment is a reboot of the series; it features a modern setting in Afghanistan and will depict the ongoing war on terror. The elite Tier 1 Operators take center stage, and it'll be interesting to attempt missions that no one else wants to attempt. The multiplayer beta debuted on the PlayStation 3 and EA will kick off the PC beta test starting October 4; PC gamers can actually download it on the 1st. Now, the question is: if you had to pick one shooter to buy this fall, would it be Medal of Honor? Or would it be Black Ops? We have plenty of faith in both and we've been looking for a MoH rejuvenation for quite some time, as the more recent entries have been seriously lacking.
Anyway, stay tuned for our review of the game. We'll be either on point or early with this one, depending on the embargo.

Game like 'Black Ops.' Not to say that it looks outright bad, but I just feel like it's being done to death (I quit the series after 'World At War').

I know what to expect with COD, so I'm a little more inclined to get that first...although Treyarch makes me nervous.
Either way, I look at these two potentially great games and think to myself: "Man, games sure have come a looong way since JRPG's, eh boys?"

I plan on renting both through gamefly and then purchasing them when the price drops to the 40's. Not the best way to support either, but my pockets are more important.

Luckily, I don't have to choose. As a fan of shooters, I'll probably end up getting both (assuming both receive good reviews), but I'm pulling for MOH just because it seems like the underdog this year and has really fallen from glory...I like a good comeback!
