L+E Pictures Finds Just Cause For A Movie Adaptation
Yet another major action series should be making its way to the big screen.
According to Variety, Eric Eisner's L+E Pictures has optioned the film rights to Avalanche Studios' open-world sandbox game, Just Cause. Eisner's company will develop the film along with producer Adrian Askarieh of Prime Universe and Michael Ross ("Turistas") will handle the scriptwriting. Unsurprisingly, the protagonist will be Rico Rodriguez, the fearless special agent who takes on the deadliest of missions for the U.S. government. That grappling hook has become quite the fixture in his two adventures, so we're expecting plenty of high-flying stunts in the big screen adaptation. As a quick sales update, the original game released in 2006 and sold 1 million units and the sequel, which launched back in March of this year, has already surpassed the 2 million plateau.
If you're wondering where you've seen Askarieh's name before, he worked with Eidos on producing a film based on the Hitman franchise, and he's apparently working on a sequel. He's also producing the Kane & Lynch adaptation for Millenium Films and Lionsgate, a movie that boasts big star power in the form of Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx. Okay, so who's up for the "Just Cause" film?Tags: just cause, just cause 2, just cause movie, just cause film
