Spooks, Skeletons Haunting Sports Champions Tomorrow

Halloween is coming up and the ghouls and ghosts are about to haunt one of PlayStation Move's first titles.

As revealed at the PlayStation Blog, the Haunted Pack for Sports Champions will be on the Store tomorrow. For $4.99, you can nab three new spooky characters that are playable in all six events, along with some corresponding equipment. The characters are Specter, Deadmund, and Numbskull and the new items are as follows:

  • Disc Golf – Phantom Disc Set
  • Bocce – Skull Bocce Set
  • Table Tennis – Phantom Paddle
  • Gladiator Duel – Skeleton Sword and Shield
  • Archery – Skull Bow
  • Beach Volleyball – Skull Ball

They're even tossing in an Unlock All DLC on the same day - yeah, the easy way out - and you can certainly expect more DLC to arrive down the road. For an introductory piece of software, Sports Champions isn't perfect but quite solid, and very entertaining. We'll be looking forward to more from Move in the future; stay tuned for more coverage.

Sounds fun but not $4.99 fun. Really DLC for a game like this should be free.

I agree man. The family digs the game, but I don't think we'll be purchasing this DLC.

Agreed Jawknee, 5 dollar fun would be another event or an online mode. After already getting platinum, I'll give my arms and legs a break and wait for that.

I'd give them $5 if you could slice the volleyball in half with the grim reaper on a return volley making it impossible to hit. A different mode like tombstone difficulty would be needed though.

I'll say this about Sports Champions: it's tough. You play Wii Sports or Wii Sports Resort and you don't even break a sweat. You play Sports Champions and you feel you actually competed in a sporting event. Archery on the Wii and the PS3 are complete opposites in regards to challenge.

$5 is too much for this baby. I'd rather spend $5 for a new event and trophies.

So, this just basically winds up being a few new avatars using different shaped playing utensils.


A better deal would have been if they had also added in a section of spooky, creepy, or zombie game-play too in their DLC.

I was so excited at first! I thought they were gonna include the demos we saw at E3! For some reason I really liked the archery demo were you're shooting at the deadmund. But then I saw that it's just the characters...

Bummer, it's big time overpriced. I woulda gladly paid the $5 for those tech demos though...

wish sony would add tennis and some other sports to sports champions.
its stupid they restricted it to A such small unpopular sports and B well sports that dont suit it and C sports which are so similar.
seriously who plays Bocce?
i thought you had to have glasses, white hair a walking stick and a honda to qualify for that!
tennis, hockey, pool, boxing, shooting, hockey, golf, theres soooooooooo many such better sports they could of put in there than stupid Bocce!

Personally I'd like to see skeet shooting. They could do Croquet, tennis, badminton, water polo, and whatever. Anything but a bunch of characters you will use occasionally.
