Plus Members Have A Shot At Killzone 3 Public Beta Trial

Hey, so...Killzone 3 is coming. And the beta is coming sooner than you might've thought.

A Public Beta Trial is right around the corner, and you can find all the details over at the PlayStation Blog. They'll be testing the multiplayer mode and it all kicks off on October 25. However, as space is limited - as always - you'll need to know how to land a spot, and the #1 priority for wannabe testers is simple: become a PlayStation Plus member. As stated on the blog-

"With the exception of a handful of key media partners and selected PAX feedback participants, access to the Killzone 3 Public Beta Trial is limited to PlayStation Plus subscribers. If you’re not enjoying the many benefits of Plus membership yet, now’s the time to sign up!"

So that's the first step. After, download the exclusive KZ3 XMB Theme from the Store, which will be available on October 19; the first 10,000 Plus subscribers who do so (5,000 each from SCEA and SCEE) will gain access to the Public Beta Trial. If you're one of the lucky ones, you will receive an e-mail on October 25, welcoming you to the beta and giving you the promotion code.

And remember, "those of you who make it into the Public beta Trial are expected to provide honest gameplay feedback, report bugs and glitches, and help test network code in real-world scenarios." This isn't a demo; you are performing a valuable service.

Unfortunately a vast majority of people, that participate in betas, don't bother providing feedback for the developers :( They're more worried about playing the game early and having bragging rights.

Very true, and the fact that they are giving invites out to people who download the theme first means they are going to get more kids that are done with school for the afternoon than adults that have jobs and can't run home to download the theme the minute the store updates.

Don't really see that on the PC side. I'm not very knowledgeable about the beta scene on consoles.

PC gamers tend to be different animals than console gamers LV. When I'm on steam I never seem to have to hear shrill screams of "n00b" or some racial or sexuality slur. Also, when I am PC gaming I can actually count on members of a clan to act like a unit instead of the lone Rambo on the battlefield.

I made my contributions to the Dead Space 2 beta and LBP back before it released. Feels good to be a part of something like that.

It does doesn't it? I have participated in a large number of PC betas from services like OnLive to games produced by all sorts of companies and a large number of ones done by SOE. Which come to think of it makes me wonder if SCE knows about the beta tester pool that SOE has given that I have never gotten an invite to a beta for a SCE product but have been in just about every SOE beta I can think of.

I don't know what's funnier. The fact that you failed to understand my original comment was a movie quote OR the fact that so far you've received 2 thumbs up for proving it with your comment.

People suck. betas never get the justice of true trouble shooting/debugging. No matter what you game on.it doesn't help when people don't bother reporting bug far too many glitches are overlooked.it seems as if lock ups and freezing are many peoples priority.I can't tell you how many betas I've involved myself in that had tearing and floating characters that weren't reported. Better yet, people would tell me its not noticeable or that its expected..

Either way, congrats to the lucky folks who are accepted!

its kinda stupid that you have to dl the theme just to get into the beta and that its only 5000 people will get it for both scea n scee. i can understand that you have to have plus, cause it was promise that people who have plus would get into early betas. but having to dl a theme even thought you have plus is just stupid. they should just give codes to everybody who has plus.

It is wat it is! Ill download the theme to maybe get a chance to play in the beta. Your chances are way higher of getting in then it would be if it was for all playstation network members.

This is the most convincing reason yet to get the Plus membership. I just wish there were more than 5,000 spots available, I don't really have time to sit in my living room waiting to download the KZ3 xmb theme as soon as its released. Oh well.

do the store update at the same time? because ps store updates in vegas always happen between 5 and 7pm. first 5000 people is messed up though. it should be decided depending on how many actual psn plus members out there.

You know, it seriously seems like I received more Beta invitations BEFORE I signed up for Plus. I didn't receive the Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood one nor did I get one for the new downloadable Red Faction title. Before those, I received invitations for EVERY Beta on the PS3. Kinda screwy, if you ask me.

Hopefully the beta will show off more than just snowy maps. KZ2 was great, but a change in scenery would have been awesome instead of just old buildings and desert.

There are people who have time to beta test games for multi-million dollar companies? Oh right, they don't actually want to beta test, they just want to be the first to play the game.

Well too bad to most of us I guess but I'm sure there will be a demo for KZ3.

I'm not asking much, but I wanna play the E3 demo, it's just awesome to look at and I'm sure I'll be sexually-aroused playing it.

I will gladly subscribe to Plus if it meant that i could help out a developer with just some input. But hey, does anyone think that using the trophies could help nerrow down the potential good testers. People who could help improve the game, determined by the level of trophies they have. I mean they should have some use other than a digital list of past actions.

Agree.
Trophies won are usually shown as multiplayer or not. Games played also show areas of interest. Sounds like a resource of contacts a beta would want to tap.
