Rumor: Killzone 2 Playable Demo Upcoming?

All the rumors and hype surrounding Killzone 2 might be coming to light sooner than expected. According to 1Up Editor Luke Smith's blog, he is predicting that we'll see a "playable Killzone 2 demo before gamers are participating in the beta for Halo 3." Well, considering that beta is right around the corner, this must mean the Killzone 2 demo is...what, tomorrow?

He's basing the prediction on a number of things. First of all, he believes the game purposely dropped out of the limelight in order to give way to Resistance: Fall of Man. Secondly, Guerilla has worked (with a ton of money at their disposal) to finally create a fully developed game, rather than just another pre-rendered trailer. And thirdly, Smith believes Phil Harrison's GDC keynote address will "steal some mindshare away from Microsoft" and that upcoming March Halo 3 beta. How? Well, by releasing the playable Killzone 2 demo, of course.

It's hard to believe that this demo of a sequel to a non-groundbreaking game could compete with the Halo 3 beta test, but then again, if the demo is that impressive... We found out later last year that Guerilla had some ridiculous giant budget for this game, so we're hoping that money was used for good. But can we really expect a playable demo this soon? Well, we'll hope for that, too.
