Survey: MoH Popular, But Won't Come Close To CoD

If you're not among the best of the best in the shooter genre, you'll get squashed beneath the weight of the mega-blockbusters.

This is why, despite all the hype and relative critical acclaim thus far attached to EA/DICE's Medal of Honor, analysts say it won't steal the holiday sales crown. Although it is definitely a member of the FPS "Big Three" - the others being Halo: Reach and Call of Duty: Black Ops - a recent survey conducted by Lazard Capital Markets says MoH doesn't rank as high on the US consumer interest chart. The survey says that 25% of consumers were interested in Black Ops, despite a solid 17% showing for EA's reboot of a long-running franchise. Analyst Colin Sebastian thinks Activision's huge title will once again set entertainment records and in the end, it'll sell a lot more copies than MoH:

"Importantly, given the broader interest and timing with gift purchases, we expect Call of Duty will still sell at least 3x the number of units as Medal of Honor, although game reviews remain a key variable in determining core gamer interest."

We've seen that comment from analysts quite a bit; that reviews tend to have significant impacts on sales. ...well, we could've told you that. However, even if Medal of Honor had managed to drag down huge scores (which it doesn't appear to be doing), it probably still wouldn't have been enough to topple the CoD kingpin. By the way, look for our MoH review within the next 24 hours...

Besides the multiplayer I think MOH is really good, of course not the best game ever but better then any of the COD campaigns. I just beat it to pretty sad ending. I just hope that SWFU 2 can get really good reviews, the demo was really fun and the graphics are beautiful.

LOL the graphics are one of the weakest points in the game. The night levels are drab and boring as hell to look at. The day levels are better but still suffer from texture loading, pop in and screen tearing.

Oh my bad, I wasent really specific when I made the comment about the graphics. I was talking about the The Force Unleashed 2, the graphics in MOH were very disappointing for me, being that its 2010 you would think the graphics would look a lot better.

Yeah, I was surprised at the range or scores when I looked earlier today. It'll be interesting to see what PSX says in their review. It would be too late for me, I had already put down $30 on the pre-order and picked it up this evening but too tired to play it right now.

Yes, as a collector I need every title out there & even the crap.
And for games that stink, it's the .50 cent to $5 bargain bin for me.

Anyways, I've only read one review on MOH so far, but it was favorable.....

The one low score review I read, claimed a bunch of technical problems including but not limited to screen tearing. Also a couple of reviewers liked to compare the multiplayer to BC2 and liked BC2 more.

World, the Tier 1 guy that was on the cover was based on an actual Ops guy, and one site actually showed a side-by-side pictures of the MOH guy & the real soldier, but I can't remember which site I saw it on though.

BTW, that same MOH guy on the cover looks just like one of the guys in my club too.

eh, I don't trust many review sites beside this one to be relatively fair. If it ain't Halo or CoD, the kids over at like IGN and Kotex-taku tend to find more wrong than need be.

Yep, just waiting for that review, and i definitely agree that Black Ops will sell 3x. MOH has only been getting 6-8.1 on a 10 pt scale which will scare some people away from buying it.

I am officially eating my hat(ill send you a picture Alienage.) >.< EA made this game look a whole lot better than it actually is. I only like it slightly more than MW2 at this point and that's because the multiplayer has potential. Its not as broken as MW2 was when it first launched. I wonder if EA was showing off the PC version on full settings or something because the game is not as pretty as it was in the trailers. I gave these guys credit for using the Unreal engine better than most have and now im taking it back. It's full of frame rate drips, some minor screen tearing and texture loading..meh..

I'll say this though, MW2 was better at telling you where to go. Theres points in the single player were all the action just stops and there is no hint as to wear to go next. Your stuck wandering around for 20 minutes while your team members sit in silence.

I'm pretty disappointed in this game thus far.

EDIT: there's no doubt Black Ops will sell more than this. Shame these games seem to be getting worse and worse. I wanted to give this one a chance since EA worked so close with out fighting men and woman but so far its a dud.

I like the sound. Its way better than the sound in MW2. The guns sound more authentic instead of a stapler clicking like in MW2. But its not Bad Company good. And while the multiplayer has potential it's almost as if DICE was intentionally holding back. Its no where near as polished as Bad Company 2 but it could get better with updates i guess.

Overall the game feels like a shooting gallery more than a shooter.

MoH... doesn't even deserve a mention. its a damn shame, i WANTED MoH to be awesome, but... i guess not. bargain bin for sure.

I played Reach again, this time for almost 2 hours. I seriously don't know what all the fuss is about. Its full of jaggies and frame rate dips. The graphics are ugly in my opinion. Everything looks rough like some one scrubbed everything with sandpaper. There are moments when MoH looks better than Reach. And it plays almost exactly the same as the last 3 games.

Fist off MOH is a lot better then MW2, the online is "a lot" better. I'm, disappointed that MOH has not been getting any good reviews. I hoping it will do very well. i knew all along it would not sell as good as black ops but i thought it would be a better game.
anyways I won't be playing any other games for a while now that Nov. 2 is coming up. I'll be playing RDR until then.

I mostly like the MP in MoH more than MW2. The sound is better. The environments look better and it has a Bad Company 2 feel to it which i like quite a bit. Its just not as good as BC2.

MoH's reviews are looking really lackluster. That's okay by me. This gen has seen so many FPS games it's crazy. Hopefully, in time, they'll return to the corner in which they came and proportionately offer a good game every so often.

I'm glad you enjoy your franchise booze, trust me I have nothing against it. I am of the opinion that mainstream success tends to mean the appeal is to a lower common denominator, but whatever. I only have a vague recollection of when the other genres weren't tainted by it though. That's my real beef.

I seriously can't think a better analogy other than music. Some of the best and innovative music goes completely unnoticed while the radio plays garbage all day. The easy to listen to catchy, over played out crap gets all the attention and money while bands who actually try to make music no one has beard before get brushed aside.

That's pretty much how i see franchises like Halo and Call of Duty.

But hey...to each his own or something.

I'm not going to get into defending MW2. There's no need. The reviews speak for themselves. It's the 9th highest reviewed PS3 game this gen. MW2 has way better scores than any JRPG this gen. Are all game reviewers "sheep" as well? COD sells well because it's a good game and people enjoy it.

mw2 was good not quite as good as cod4 due to killstreaks and stuff over complicating what cod had done tho i do think they improved it

I used to defend COD, even though I'd never played any of the games, using the same arguments as Hezzron (i.e., it gets good reviews). Then, I played the demo for MW2.

If that mission is any indication of the full game, I can no longer defend it.

SOCOM Confrontation was better...when it was released. And it was broken when it was released.

The MAG beta was 1000 times better.

yea new MOH was garbage during the beta, i put my feedback in hoping it would be fixed by release, but i dunno, played it by a buddy's today, ill be skipping it, bad company 2 is way better.
plus too many modern day military shooters out there, played 1 you pretty much played em all.

Well played it quite a bit today, and while certain points of the online is broken, such as combat zone and weapon balancing. I have still really been enjoying it. Kinda like bad company 2 only with a much faster pace, which I enjoy. Reminds me of how fun the original modern warfare was before they gave people the ability to leap 15ft through bullets to get an instant knife kill

Faster Bad Company 2 is also why i like the multiplayer but the weapon balance is frustrating me. That and the fact its so hard to see anyone. I hope they fix these things. I don't want to feel like i wasted money. I starting to.

Well so far I'm very happy with the game! I played the beta so I knew what I was getting into but they only made it better! So far the campaign is entertaining but te mp is so good! I'm having a lot of fun with this one! Glad I can say I'm playing a great MoH game again!

Nah my kill to death is pretty good I mean patience is key in bigger maps same with mag! I do understand what ur saying sometimes all of a sudden I'm dead lol and sometimes I spawn on enemies n die again! But at the same time I've gone over 30 kills and Unser 5 deaths more often so no I don't think it needs to be more balanced!

To me in mw2 only the strong survive I got to the point where I was dropping nukes every round! It helps when u got a good clan too but that got boring! If anything mw2 has a lot of balancing issues but I still enjoyed it!

Again I can see where ur coming from though! Theres a lot going on and that's the same with mag! When u put more objectives in a game it adds to the mayhem! But overall it's very entertaining!

I'm 24 w probably the worst eyes ever! I can't see more than a foot in front of me and at night I'm legally blind! I do have corrective lenses an glasses and I have a stigmatism that gets worse yearly in my left eye!

I'm just patient is all I'm not that guy that runs out there and tries to get kills! It helps if snipe u a lot too then u get that feel for letting people come to you! In objective based games just think bout covering your team as they plant a bomb or what have you! If u sit back there's always some one that pops up Cus they can't sit still! If your the run and gun type just make sure your accurate and can fire from the hip Cus I've encountered more people coming round corners in mag n moh than cod! In that case use a shot gun with the slugs in moh they have pretty good range and just lay people out!

picked up my preorder yesterday of MOH, haven't opened it up due to waiting on Ben's or Arnold's review for this game cause i really don't trust other sites due to are they giving it a bad review for the game reason or due to the contersery surrounding the taliban stuff? i know ben and arnold will give it a game review not a politically correct review :)

Well, of course CoD is going to outsell MoH. It has a far greater mass knowledge. What's important is the comparative figures.

As for MoH, I've read some reviews and it seems somewhat meh. I'm still wanting to get it, but I want to see Ben's review. As long as it's up in the next 36 hours I'll make my final decision before. If it isn't up by then, well, I probably won't get it and it'll be postponed until the same time that I pick up GT5.

I have to say I picked up MOH this afternoon, and I actually like it! I am a huge fan of the MOH franchise so this was a day one purchase for me. I am excited for the Battelfield 3 Beta access that I get, and getting MOH Frontline along with it is awesome!

The SP campaign is really fun. The game play has a nice amount of realism to it. Much more enjoyable then the arcade style shooter that was MW2. The dialogue seems very real and does not have the excessive macho-ism and over over the top action adventure stuff. You just play as a highly trained soldier just doing his job.

You need to always pay attention and keep up with your teammates to figure out where you need to go. Not having a map or radar on the screen telling you were to go is a nice change. You can't just run around trying to shoot everything, because if you do you die quick.

The sliding – while running towards cover while being shot at is a nice touch, the request ammo feature from your teammates is cool, the gun optics are best I've seen and come in handy especially during the sniper level when you need to find the enemies on the mountain. I like the Tier 1 unlock avaliable after you beat the game. Makes it a real challenge to play through the game again.

The multiplayer is not as good as BFBC2 for sure. I wish DICE had put in the destructibility. The game has it's issues with frame rate and graphic glitches on occasion but not anywhere as bad as IGN says it is.

Just though I would add my thoughts by someone who actually does like the game, I guess their are a few us out their :-)

BO will sell better than MoH, thats just a no brainier!
but 3 times better?
well MoH will probably sell 3M units, so that would mean it would have to sell 12M units.
isent that what MW2 sold?
no way BO will sell 12M units!
9, maybe 10 if there lucky, but no freaking way in hell are they going to sell 12M units!
treyarch has half the fan base IW does, and there games are always 1/4 (if that) as good!

my fps tree is Bioshock, killzone and battlefield bad company, soon i will pick resistence 2 , MoH and CoD is a pass for me, my only interest in the atual MoH is the HD version of Frontline, but i will not buy because of it.

Meh...i'm so glad i never bothered to pick up my pre-order that was the limited edition gamestop can keep it for all i care. and by the way before you all bash me i never did bother to pre-order COD: BO i say for get shooters all together the only shooters in my Ps3 collection are Bioshock 1&2, Uncharted 1&2 and Red Faction Guerrilla. the only shooters from here on out that i plan to get are Resistance 3 and Killzone 3 and thats it.

i got my copy first thing in the mail this morning. right off the bat of course went straight into playing the sp. usually play sp first in any game that has sp and mp, just to get the feel for the game. anyoo the campaign/story is very well written and well made. i know people said its short like 4 to 5 hours, to me it felt longer since i had it on the hardest difficulty. well ea i think did a great job on the realistic feel to what goes on in Iraq with this tier 1, its not 100% correct its most likely more in real life what tier 1 go through. overall ea really did awesome job showing you what this soldiers protects us from. well the gamplay in the game is the basic fps go there shoot this and etc.

the game still has its unique feats like how you can switch from full auto to single burst on some of the guns, whats more realistic than that, cod needs to do that. melee with the knife is also great you can quick stab and cont stab. its awesome to slide into cover to avoid getting shot rather than sprinting to cover and end up being killed quicker. the guns sounds omg probably the best ive heard. the guns actually sounds like how they really would.
also 50 cal actually kills people in one hit not that 2 shot crap cough cough cod. the only problem moh has in sp is its graphical issues. it has bad frame rates and screen tearing but not like how ign describe it. it happens once in a awhile like how uc 1 was.
also for people who say the game doesn't give a good explanation where to go you click either up or down one of those 2 is the right button, on your d-pad. a marker will show were to go and show where you team mates are.

mp in moh defently has the bfbc 2 style its not as good but sure comes close. the matches actually make you work as a team to win, where other fps people just think its dm and not care for the objective just kill everyone. also the kill streak awards are perfect when in a match playing. you can pick a offense or a defense perk. meaning destroy your target and get points or help your whole team by giving them full ammo and still get points. plus unlike mw2 kills streaks aren't abuse cant be customize where the noobish of player can just sit in ac130 or chopper gunner the whole time.
the game is awesome defently better score than a 6 what ign gave it. its a 8.5 at best. its not perfect but it sure is lots of fun when you get use to playing it.

I pre-ordered mine and even though I haven't played it yet, I'm not regretting my decision. MoH was king of warfare shooters long before CoD came along and I believe it can eventually take back that crown. I have a hard time beliving a bunch of the reviews that I've read (especially looking at you, IGN). You can't tell me this is a 6/10 and Modern Warfare 2 was a 9.5/10. The campaign length is getting torn apart for this game because it's only 5 hours long, yet there's CoD with its dinky campaigns getting 9.5's. Give me a break.

I don't think that was the actual soldier, for ID purposes. Even when I was in Southeast Asia we never allowed any photos to be taken of our squad. I still have my SSN tatooed under my arm pit.
