I just have one thing to add- this needs to be done. Nathan Fillion is Nathan Drake. He can do this role in his sleep.

There's NOBODY else who fits the role better, IMO.

As I have said before... there is simply NO way this movie cannot be transitioned from the game. A "once-in-a-lifetime" get out of jail free card for game-to-movie transitions. This guy fits the bill, all we need is EDDY RAJA. By the way, Emily Rose can still play Elena (although it wouldn't feel right without Nolan).

I did. Sam Worthington and Michelle Rodriguez. Them and Avatar are not good examples. That movie was so bad and Sam and Michelle are terrible actors.

Shartlo Copely is a better example. No star power and he was the best part of District 9.

I'm with you SvenMD and McClane... Why not Nolan North... having the same voice would be so epicly epic! He can definitely look like him too!

Also not knocking the other guy but I have no clue who he is (granted my knowledge of movies actors/actresses is abysmal) so I'd have to see him in action before getting on board with campaigning for him...

Is there a voting website that the director and producers have direct access to?

If so, they HAVE TO see that we, the gamers, the audience, the people, WANT Nathan Fillion as Drake!!!!

It'll secure the gaming crowd while an effective advertising strategy will secure the rest of the people who know nothing of this franchise.

Not only that, but Fillion will be set up with a big screen awesome character repertoire that will help associate him as an actor to that character, meaning sequels and big cash for them.

I'm only addressing this cos everything is tied to money these days, and getting Fillion to play Drake makes the most financial and fan loving sense!!!!

With any other actor, especially a big time Hollywood actor, the name would sell the movie, but the impact would not be as big or last as long. And sequels would be difficult should the big name Hollywood actor be tied with other big projects.

If you want to see Nathan Fillion in action, simply watch (Youtube or DVD) Firefly and Serenity.

He's a nice guy who everyone warms up to, but is a strong and powerful guy when he needs to be, but has the charming funny guy act going as well. He nailed it perfectly in these films and TV series, and is the best example to show why he MUST get this role.

And check out Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. Nathan Fillion plays the brilliant role of Captain Hammer in that film.

Also, using an actor beloved by the gaming community only makes sense for a film dedicated to fans of Uncharted within that gaming community.

I will be so disappointed if Fillion doesn't get the part.

My only problem with Fillion is that he's a bit old and doughy for someone who will need to cling to the side of buildings using only one hand.

If Fillion doesnt play Nate then i'll just not watch the movie. Eveyone knows he is the absolute perfect actor for the role, and not just because he looks a lot like Nate. He is very talented and will be able to bring a lot of life into the role.
Hollywood screws up a lot of game-based movies (and a lot of movies in general), so they should be able to get at least this one thing right.

I know i have seen this guy before i just can't recall what he's been in. I'm fine with this. I don't know this guys work all that much and i tend to like movies with good actors who aren't known to me. Shartlo Copley was brilliant in District 9 and i had never seen or heard of him before in my life. Me not being familiar with this guy will surely help.

If an actor is good he can become Drake no matter who he is (yes there may be other who are better suited for this part)... I'm just saying that because if he doesn't get the part people will start flipping out for no reason...

NATHAN FILLION! Hell yes. Firefly is my second favourite TV series, and a large part of that is this guy. He would be brilliant for the role. Make it happen. If not him, then Brendan Fraser from ten years ago.

I don't know who to say for Elena... I'd need a shortlist. Whoever it is needs to be cute. I'd love to see someone like Sir Ian McKellen for Sully. Such distinction mixed with Sully's dirty mind would be funny to watch.

And if Eddy Raja isn't in this movie, I will boycott it. He is my favourite character in the Uncharted franchise to date. Just brilliantly written and portrayed.

He is perfect because i don't know anybody else who looks even a little Nathan Drake.But he is kind of old for the part don't you guys agree.
Nathan Drake in my opinion should be played by somebody new who i don't know and he should surprise me how well he fits Nathan Drake's character.Not only NDrake but everyone they pick should really fit their characters not only Nathan Drake.

This would be the first truly good vidogame adaptation. Fillion is Drake. To those saying why not Nolan North. Heres why not, because hes a voice actor. Watch Firefly, Serenity, or Castle. He looks like him, he could stand in for Nolan North easily as for voice. They sound the same. They even have the same sarcasm. Oh yeah Emily Rose definitely should be Elena because she acts as well as voice acting. Watch Haven shut your eyes then all of a sudden you will think its an Uncharted game all the way down to the coincidence that her partner on Haven is named Nathan. Damn shes hot, really good actress too. Anyways watch Castle then Haven you will see it would rock with those two!

I'm not sure if I'm the only one who noticed it, but Nathan Fillion looks more like Kevin Butler than Nathan Drake on that picture. LOL!

On the topic though, I do hope that the movie would do the game some justice.Uncharted is a game that could easily translate to a movie because of its very cinematic nature.

PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN! I've been a Nathan Fillion fan forever now (since his appearances on Buffy) and this is the exact role that he needs. With Castle being a success for ABC, maybe he can finally win a lead in big Hollywood blockbuster. The man has the charisma and appearance for the role. Hell, he even has a near-identical voice and the same first name. It doesn't get much more perfect than that!

As for those question star power. Nathan Fillion has starred in multiple tv shows and movies.

Nolan North has done lots of voices, but has only had very minor walk on roles on camera.

As for why Nolan North can't be Nathan in the movie when several of us are claiming Emily Rose and Claudia Black should be shoo ins for the roles of Elena and Chloe because they originated them in the game, it is because Nolan North is basically a voice actor, not a very accomplished screen actor, while both Rose and Black have more screen experience.

I’m not saying someone shouldn’t given Nolan a shot because everyone deserves a break, but how many producers/directors cast unknowns in the lead roles of high profile movies? It happens, but it is very rare.

I just checked him out at IMDB and Nolan has a very long resume as a voice actor in games and TV shows. He has four or five guest appearances on TV shows as a live actor. Nathan Fillion has a much larger resume; plus he has geek cred, which goes far with gamers.

Furthermore, there are two types of voice actors: the screen actor who is moonlighting for some cash -- thankfully it seems most of these actors are taking the craft more seriously these days and not just phoning it in -- and those actors who are very good, professional voice actors that for some reason aren’t successful screen actors, either because they don’t have the looks or because they are wooden screen actors.

The same thing goes for David Hayter; there is a reason why Hayter is a very successful voice actor and writer but not a screen actor.

Here’s a fact. IMDB has a star power meter that weighs popularity: Hayter is down 2% this week while North is up 13%.

I say give North a bit part in Uncharted to honor him, but give Fillion the lead.

Nolan North needs a part in the movie. But what part? since he *is* Drake, that's difficult to pull off if Fillion get's cast.

However, what about this?

The 'real' drake as played by Fillion is contacted by a game producer to make a game of his most recent adventure. North will be the Drake in the game, and there is a scene where both Drakes face off as the motion capture is done for the game. Cue the "That's impossible, I'd never do it that way..." moment for Drake/Fillion. Drake fillion watches as Drake/North hangs from a beam firing madly at some bad guys. Fade/cut to the present day with Drake/Fillion hanging from a beam by one had and firing at some bad guys...

I like the idea of having North in it, but North is Drake, so if Fillion (or another actor is cast as Drake) North can't really appear in the movie unless there is some device to get him into it as the video game Drake.

I love Nathan. He's great in Castle, had a classic sci-fi role in Firefly, and has been funny/charming in anything he's ever done.

Personally, I don't see a better choice for Drake. The only other guy who could nail the "feel" of Drake's personallity is probably Brendon Frasier.

For those of you that don't know who Nathan Fillion is, it'd almost be safe to say Nathan Drake's character was written from Nathan Fillion's character on Firefly. It literally is the same person.

Also, you should DL or Hulu Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long.

I'm still rooting for Justin Bartha to play Nathan. He could look pretty close to the character I think. It won't happen though.

To anyone asking about his age and whether he is too old to play Nathan Drake, consider this:

A certain actor was 38 when he filmed Raiders of the lost Ark in 1980, the first of three excellent films which were pretty action packed and physical for a guy in his 40s(not to mention the plethora of films he did later on which had much action) and he turned 39 the day after the film was released.

Nathan Fillion is turning 40 in 2011, more than enough time for them to begin filming and take advantage of his youthfulness! :P

IMHO Drake is basically a modern bad ass Indy :)

OH! AND Claudia Black is perfect as Chloe and Emily Rose would be excellent as Elena!

While I think Nathan Fillion is a good choice for Nathan Drake, just for the sake of having more choices, anyone else thinks Jensen Ackles would be a good fit as well?

In case you're wondering who he is, he plays Dean Winchester in the Supernatural TV series.

In a sense, the character of Dean is very Nathan Drake - chauvanistic and egoistic yet goofy. Whenever I play Unchartered, the way the character of Nathan is played out, always reminds me of Dean in almost every way.

Either way, I hope they do it right with the script and characterisation. There's no room for error for the latter as its this that a lot of players enjoy and connect with when playing Unchartered.
