MLB 2K10 Predicts Unlikely World Series Champion
MLB 2K10The MLB playoffs continue tonight and if you're wondering what this year's simulator from 2K Sports predicts, read on.
Believe it or not, MLB 2K10 has predicted that the San Francisco Giants will win the World Series. It'll be their first world championship since moving to SF in 1958; the New York Giants won plenty before that. If you're thinking this isn't likely, Marc Normandin, Kotaku poster and writer for Baseball Prospectus, the game's foremost journal of statistical analysis, disagrees:
"Each series features evenly matched clubs, so I buy both of MLB 2K10's predictions. Personally, I think the Rangers can beat the Yankees in as few as five games or as many as seven. But I'm on board with the Giants defeating the Phillies in the NLCS and advancing to the World Series."
Well, okay. MLB 2K10 says the Giants will take down the Phillies and their superior starting pitching in a tight six-game NLCS, and the Yankees will defeat the Rangers in five games in the ALCS. Then, although New York surges to a 3-1 lead in the World Series, San Francisco somehow comes back and wins it all in seven. In reality, the ALCS has already begun...
Can the Giants really win this thing?

Halladay is my favorite baseball player of all time. I'm a hardcore Jays fan, so even though he isn't with us anymore, we still love him. I want the Phillies to win for Roy Halladay.

Case in point: Game 1 vs. Texas. Just like what has happened most of the season, the Yankees starting pitching is very average if that, but their offense is never done and their relievers hold games like a monkey holds a banana.
I wouldn't have bet money the Rays would lose, but lo and behold! Such is the playoffs.
