Insomniac Committed To PS3, To Stick With Resistance
With the new Game Informer featuring Resistance 3, one had to assume several little nuggets of valuable info would show up on the 'Net.
Perhaps two of the most encouraging details - especially in regards to PlayStation 3 fans and ardent Resistance followers and defenders - came towards the end of the GI feature. As noted by PS3Center, Insomniac has reiterated their desire to keep working exclusively with Sony's machine. They've also hinted that Resistance 4 isn't out of the question, although we assume the retail performance of R3 will go a long way towards determining that possibility. After stressing that they remain a PS3-only company, Insomniac was asked if R3 would be the last in the franchise:
"I don't think so. I think Resistance 3 is a story within the Resistance universe that can be expanded upon. Doors will be shut, but they won't be slammed."
Well, they're introducing a new main character so that alone should allow for a few more story branches in the future. And considering this studio's talent and potential, it's great to hear they want to stick with the PS3. It's the one console that gives them the best chance of realizing their vision(s); or at least, that's what we assume. Anyway, we can't wait to hear more about R3. Game's gonna be bad-ass.

I'm waiting for my video out cable to arrive to play Resistance Retribution so I can play it with the DS3 and on the big screen. Maybe Insomniac should look into a PS3 3rd person Resistance if R3 sells well.

So yes, I'm flat out being selfish. It would be one thing if it was a developer I've never enjoyed games from before in the past but I like Insomniac and I have the same feeling I'd have if James Cameron was coming out with a Dawson's Creek movie.

..and yes I know you were trying to crack a joke and we both know you've seen the movie and own it in multiple forms.

Also, as others have said... not wasting their talents, merely taking them in a different direction.

Oh, and just to be involved, Titanic was not a Dawson's Creek movie. It had a giant ship that sunk, and nudity...
Peace.

I guess i was under the impression since the beginning of this year that based on Ted Price's comments and Insomniac having opened their 3 story office building in NC, their intention was to do multiplatform development themselves.

Looking to the 2000's it seem to me that the video game industry have picked up hollyoowd's bad habit of overdosing on sequels, the very habit that hollywood have been chastised about.
Looking back at the game industry, it doesn't suprise that industry have managed to find iself on the same fruitless path as hollywood. Then again it doesn't suprise me that even mainstream media have been taking notice and have began to chastise game game industry its business practices e.g. lack of innovation, high game budgets and overreliance on sequel as examplified in this accurate article pennedy by Evan Van Zelfden of Slate:

Judging by the above comment, I'm guessing that they're project with EA is going to be developed on the PS3, then ported over? That is something I would love to see, as games that are developed that way seem to run better on both consoles. Use Burnout: Paradise and DMC4 as examples. Either way, I know it's going to be good, but I wish that we could at least find out a genre.
Peace.
P.S. Ben, when is the Insomniac interview being published... Or has it already been and I missed it?

the chimera in some of the GI pics looks so freaking cool!
the AI, and cover mechanics, return of co-op, return of weapon wheel.
this is turning up to be the sequel resistance 2 should of been!
story wise................ oh dear!
short and sweet, why has the human race turned into a bunch of pansies!?
ok, yes, your outnumbered, out gunned, but how is hiding going to fix that?
story wise this is shaping up to be a bigger disappointment than resi 5!!!!!!!!!

wheres the enjoyment of hiding?
war is about fighting against immense odds, being a man and fighting to the death.
tis better to go out with a bang, than go out with a whimper.
the earth is being taken over by chimera, how is hiding going to solve that?
is it better to live in a world of tranquility but at the cost of freedom, or is it better to live in freedom but the world be in ruins?
its so cliche too, i mean how many games have we had where a father was ex military or something is retired but now goes back to save a loved one?
honestly, that has to be one of the most over done storys in the history of not just video games, but the whole entertainment industry!

I agree that it is overdone and cliche, but if Insomniac manages to get it right (and I trust them to do so), I certainly won't be complaining.
Peace.

Hopefully their continued experience lends itself well to the games they do that are multi-platform. That is, multi-plats that don't come up short on PS3.
