DLC Codes For New Vegas PS3 Not Functional

First, we learn the initial batch of DLC will be a timed exclusive for the Xbox 360 version and now, we see the PS3 version has other DLC-related issues.

Fallout: New Vegas is one of the most anticipated games of the year for role-playing aficionados; it should be another fantastic installment after the previous gem, Fallout 3. But you know how you often receive a DLC code for free content when you pre-order a game? Well, that was the case with New Vegas, but it seems those who pre-ordered the PS3 version have codes that don't work. Developer Obsidian has issued an update via their Twitter page:

"For those trying to get the PS3 digital content codes to work, we’re working with Sony to resolve the issue. Should have an update soon."

Unfortunately, it just seems that when it comes to this series, it's best played on either the PC or 360, while PS3 owners end up holding the short end of the stick. Still, we're hoping the game itself runs equally well on all platforms, so RPG aficionados can have a quality experience regardless of platform preference. You'll see our review at some point but bear in mind that it's quite a long game...we'll do the best we can.

When did this game release? Maybe they should have included the DLC with the game's release....

Included for free if pre-ordered the game, I don't know if it's also available at a price for those that didn't.

Either way it's not a surprise to me. This game just like the 1st is buggy as hell and evidently rushed.

Underdog,

Why did you remove your comment about Spartan on the Forums? I didn't see anything wrong with it, he's known for being a little too lovey dovey.

Holy shit! I literally deleted it like 5 seconds after posting it! LOL

I thought that maybe I shouldn't bring a conflict into another forum. When others do it, I get a little mad. I just thought twice and decided I should behave more my age. He hasn't taken the argument elsewhere, and it would be pretty un-cool to do so... What I said wasn't too bad, but I didn't wanna start something.

It's something the anonymous cowpatty might do...

oh damn... i did it again.

Sure, Bethesda is at fault for it as well. But remember, it takes two to tango.

Microsoft has made a history of this tactic, and I am just not a fan of it. So yes, my blame does shift to Microsoft.

Full retail price is too much to pay to beta test the game for them.

I'm a bit confused here: Why is it best played on the pc or xbox? Just because of this initial code problems (that surely will be fixed soon?)? Or are there more ps3-related trouble I should be aware of?

My question is why buy the game new? If you wait like 6 months it'll be all patched up and they'll have a GOTY version with all the dlc included for about 40 bucks. It doesn't make sense to rape the people that d1p and reward those who don't rush out to get their games on the release date. What's with all the GOTY editions of games anyway? There can be only ONE lol

I waited & got the whole Fallout 3 GOTY edition with all 5 expansion packs included, for only $39.99 brand spanking new from GameStop about 3-4 months ago myself.

And I did the same thing with LBP, and got that GOTY edition for only $27

I read on Twitter that they are now working so if you have a code, download away.

As you know, I bought the 360 version hoping it would be less buggy. I was wrong. These guys at Obsidian are lazy.

There's no conspiracy against PS3 owners.

People were trying to redeem their codes before the PSN Store updated (and the content was added), so the system thought the codes were invalid.

Looks like bad ps3 ports are still on the margin. How can we exterminate these bad bugs? We need better ports. I am tired of playing laggy games, poor frame rated games that freeze my ps3 constanly! Midnight Club LA is terrible on the ps3 as it is laggy and the frame rate is bad as hell. GTA IV was super smooth on the xbox and shitty on the ps3( only after the trophie update) Rockstar, Bethesda, and a couple of others need to get it rolling.

im hoping to get this game soon for the ps3. as of right now im playing it on my bros 360. you can see the improvements they did from fallout 3 to vegas. only problem is like some people have said while playing there is bugs and glitches once in awhile. i haven't notice any freezing yet hopefully it doesn't. it will suck if it does cause than i can image how the dlc will be probably major buggy and freezing, like fallout 3 dlc was.

I think I'll enjoy it plenty if it only has as many issues at Fallout 3 did. I'll try the code when it arrives, hopefully it will be fixed. Someone said they saw no bugs last night when they got it and so far nobody here has been able to list any and are speaking of second hand knowledge so I'm not too worried.

Judging from the reviews available at gamerankings now it seems that both the ps3 *and* the xbox-version is quite plagued with bugs. Here's hoping that patches will come real fast that will correct these bugs, but if indeed the situation is as bad as those reviews gives the impression of, then I do not understand how Obsidian could release the game in this state...!

I downloaded the collectors edition off Steam last night. So far the game seems to run smoother then Fallout 3 did. And I haven't really encountered any bugs to speak of thus far. A few shadow glitches but that's about it. And I have to go back and play the previous one. Maybe it's just me, but I don't remember your character running speed being so slow. Still it's really enjoyable but don't expect to be blown away the same way with this one as we were with it's predecessor.
