Brotherhood Breaks Pre-Order Record, AC Sales Hit 19 Million

If you've bought an Assassin's Creed title in the past and/or pre-ordered the upcoming Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, you aren't alone.

Ubisoft has revealed that Brotherhood, the latest entry in the critically acclaimed franchise and the first to boast multiplayer, has broken the franchise's pre-order record. Incentives have likely helped; in the US, Ubisoft is offering an exclusive character for the multiplayer mode and on top of which, anybody who got the PS3 version was treated to a voucher code for the beta trial. All told, the AC games have surpassed the 19 million sales mark, which is pretty darn impressive but well deserved in our eyes. Remember, last year's Assassin's Creed II came out within a week of the mega-blockbuster Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and Ubisoft's stellar production still managed to sell extremely well. We're expecting nothing less than near-perfection with Brotherhood and if the developers have done their job again, another AC installment should be in the running for Game of the Year.

But we won't get ahead of ourselves. This has been a pretty great year for memorable titles already, and the competition is a wee bit out of control.

Both AC game sold 8 million each so does that mean the pre-order for Brotherhood is 3 million?

Yeah, Ubisoft didn't give us the specific pre-order number so I guess we'll just have to estimate.

Wow. I hope this third one reels me in. I couldn't get into the games any longer after I played them for about an hour or so.

Lol they didthat to me too well the first I quit after bout 4 hours the second after about 8! I did finish the first before starting the second but it was tough! Although by the end of the first I really liked it!

The second I also took a break from! But so glad I finished it what a game! I have a feeling I'll play right on through brotherhood.

I really want Brotherhood to do good. Refinement of AC II was a welcome feature in my book, but the fact that they're bringing SO much extra content to the table is really impressive. More side-missions, Challenge modes, and Multiplayer? All developed within a year's time?? Ubisoft has struck a home run with the Assassin's Creed series, so it totally deserves these numbers.

I've played 1 and 2. Didn't like the first one that much, but I really enjoyed the second.

For some reason, I'm just not that pumped for Brotherhood. Maybe it's too soon? Or maybe because it's not going to a new location and time period?

It sounds like the game will be good, so I'm glad that it will be successful.

I played the multilayer beta, while I found the multiplayer to be a drag I was very happy see too there was no screen tearing. If the retail copy doesn't have any I may pick it up. I liked 2, I just couldn't play it longer than an hour at a time because the screen tearing was some of the worst I've seen this generation. Headache inducing tearing.

The beta was a breath of fresh air in my opinion. Tense, and there's an immense feeling of satisfaction when getting a kill. My only complaint is that it does has a potential to get repetitive.

Yes I did write that. Your eyes didn't deceive you. I didn't care to finish the because it's not very good. 2 is a lot better but the screen tearing was still terrible. As with all Ubisoft games.

well i know one person who doesn't pre-order. me i hate to pre-order any more since NHL 11 i've stoped. Pre-ordering just a wast of 5 bucks.

Whose surprised by this? AC1 & AC2 are some of the slickest games ever. They capture the time era's so well. The graphics and combat were just insane in my opinion. I can't wait to grab Brotherhood. I just hope its an improvement upon the other two if possible.

19 million? I may have to give ACII a chance after all. I love to see a non-FPS title gain momentum even if it isn't really my thing.

really looking forward to this, epically after reading the preview GI had.
nice to see this starting right as 2 left off, hopefully this will have as strong a story as its brothers.
cant wait to finally find out what happened to subject 16.
