Sony Liverpool Prepping New Wipeout?
Wipeout HD is still one of the best downloadable games available, which is why we'd be excited to learn about another series installment.
Evidently, a certain job listing at Wipeout developer Sony Liverpool's website hints at the possibility of a new racing project. It's a job for Senior Designer who will "work with a talented and experienced team on a high profile racing franchise." Well, what other franchise can they be talking about? Some time ago, we had heard that this studio was forced to lay off a bunch of people, but there were always rumors concerning more Wipeout entries. If you never got a chance to play Wipeout HD, you can now pick it up in Blu-Ray disc form; it includes the Fury expansion as well. Personally, this is one of my all-time favorite racing franchises; its fluidity and slickness have always been second-to-none, and if one is looking for technical proficiency, it doesn't get much better. So here's hoping a new Wipeout is on the way...perhaps one that takes full advantage of the PS3!
We'll let you know what we can find. For the time being, Sony has refused to offer any comment on the matter.

I didn't mean this to sound snarky if it does.
On topic: I've played exactly one race since I downloaded WipEout HD (for half-price). Not because it's a bad game (far from it), but it's never my first choice.

^This! A new Wipeout has always been reason for celebration! That and egg-nog season. What can i say, i'm a man of simple tastes. I think they never were able to recreate the feel and finesse of XL, but still, after Fusion (Pure, Pulse, HD/Fury) every iteration was and is ace. I even got my hands on Wipeout xl and Wipeout 3 so i could rip the soundtracks from the CD's to play on the custom soundtracks for Pulse and HD/Fury to relive some of the nostalgia everytime i play. Glad to see the franchise is being kept alive even after the assimilation of Studio Liverpool with Studio Evolution.
